The ChiComs got it right for once...no middle eastern passport holders on their flights....

I'd have to say these people are incompetant at best. They are not getting nearly the bang they want for their buck.

Everybody is being detained in the airplane as it sits on the tarmac. I assume they are wanting to run tests on things before they turn everybody loose.

This is more or less what I was afraid of when bin Laden referred to more planes 'falling from the sky'. Only I thought it would be something more immediately deadly, like Sarin or Vx. Because in that case, the pilots would (I believe) be breathing the same recirculated air. Do commercial airline pilots have gas masks that would protect them from such a tactic?

Remember, it's safe to fly.........

One must ask: How does someone get on an airplane these days carrying an envelope (or some other holder) full of powder? Especially someone of "middle eastern" persuasion? After all the furor of the last few days, we aren't looking for something like this?

Since folks just started flying again, I think they (the evil ones) really want to hurt the airlines. This is a sure way of doing it.

Jet held on SJC runway after mysterious powder scattered in cabin United Airlines flight 1669 from Chicago O'hare International Airport to San Jose International is currently being held in isolation on an SJC runway.
SJPD officer Joseph Deras reports that a passenger took out an envelope filled with a white powder and scattered it about the cabin, possibly spreading it to the ventilation system, shortly before the scheduled landing at SJC.
The plane has landed and is isolated on the runway at SJC. Police and SJFD hazardous material teams have surrounded the plane, no passengers are being allowed off of the plane at this time.

I know! WTF! I was supposed to fly to San Jose this month. On United. Fugeddaboudit. What security moron let this guy on the plane? I wanna see the CEO of UAL eat that white powder before I consider his planes safe. And I'd bet a case of Czechvar this guy ain't in the country legally. DID THEY CHECK THAT???? Noooooooooooo. Too un-PC. The airline can all rot in bankruptcy hell if this is their idea of security.

Yikes! I hope they turned off the ventilation system! You would think they would evacuate the plane!
To: looney tune
What if this isn't Anthrax? It could be some biological agent that is contageous! That's why they are keeping people on the plane.
To: tortoise
Don't worry. They will be OK. Someone caught it early.

Any word on when he will be released from the hospital? Beatings are normally not enough to keep one for long!

In the meantime, those on the plane are continuing to breathe it in.
To: FatherTorque
Any word on how badly the perp has been beaten?
I'd say unconscious and barely beathing would be a good "stabile condition" until the Feds get ahold of him.

Heard a similar story about a flight from North Carolina to Colorado. The plane was diverted and quaranteened. I forget where it was diverted to. I'm on news overload today.

You are assuming that our government is actually concerned with protecting us. This is an assumption that I no longer make. I base my conclusion upon the actions of the federal government over the last thirty years, especially concerning the issue of immigration.

Sorry to hear that, tortoise. Hope it turns out okay for them.
To: bubbafree
That's "breathing" not beathing. Though "beathing" is how it would sound with your teeth knocked out.

I have to go for now. There are people that need attending to. More later when I get the first-hand account. Her parents live with us part-time.

Well said. Maybe we should start sending messages like yours to our government officials. I called my Congress thing thursday and told her lackey essentially the same thing. Any other suggestions how we can spread this message of "common sense" throughout the land?

Remeber Governments in general make policy on the basis of "reactions". They don't start protecting people from something until ex post de facto (after the fact). Not too many Government officals were in the Boy Scouts: Be Prepared.

I've heard that the marshalls are only on a third of the flights, at best.
Racial profiling should be used at least to determine which flights the marshalls are on.

"ve said it before. I'll say it again. GET THESE ARAB MALES OUT OF HERE! They are going to kill us all unless we start using some common sense and deport the bas***ds! This is ridiculous. The best way to reduce the threat is to reduce the number of middle eastern males. It's not rocket science! The government let them in. The government should throw them out, RIGHT NOW!" We could if the government wasn't so afraid of being called "racist."
It's time America stopped being afraid of that word.

What about any number of planes where NOBODY saw the middle eastern man pouring powder into the air intake of the airplane ventilation system. This is it folks, the real biologocal attack has begun. Airplanes equal rapid dispersment across the country as infected but not yet symptomatic people travel.

The best way to reduce the threat is to reduce the number of middle eastern males. It's not rocket science!Though the application of rocket science at he source of middle eastern men would be a very effective means of reduction!!
