Read this, Mister President!
There is hope! =)
I see by your link that South Carolina has the right idea; too bad they caved in on the flag issue.
I had originally wanted to do something for "Constitution Day" (September 17th) but the events as they were I didn't get around to it.
Maybe we should do something for Bill of Rights Day!
I wanted to do a special thread for Constitution Day (also my birthday), after fone suggested it.
Of course, after 9/11, I feel blessed to still be alive to celebrate a birthday at all.
I'll be celebrating ANTI-u.n. Day by attending any such gathering currently organized in our town .
I'll also be replaying a video made at the 50th Anniversery of the U.N. Celebration Counter-Demonstration , that our local group (Americans For The Constitution) of 75 or so of my patriotic friends and I made of a little party we put on down on the Park Strip, next to our Veterans Memorial.
We gathered at noon around the (U.S.)Flag Pole and listened to Michael New's Grandmother and Aunt Lea speak about his homeschooled childhood. Then we sang some patriotic songs, had prayer and then lit a gigantic U.N. flag ablaze while we cheered, and the local media wonks @'6 filmed away.
I have a wonderful recording of the event, complete with me gleefully shouting and dancing a happy little jig while pointing to the smoldering blue puddle ... "So much for the Rockefeller Family Flag!!"
Although AFTC kind of slowly dissolved and evolved into a weekly study group for those becoming interested in the study of Common Law, I really do think we all should organize an Annual Anti-UN DEATHday Commemoration, if for no other reason than to stay in the face of the local Liberal/Socialist/Marxist/Commie/Bureaucrats who dominate our local media, and our state and local government.
Hmmmmmmmm ??? Thanks for the post and the bump.
FReepmail me with info if this is possible!!
(BTW...obviously, you're ALREADY on my Bump List...didn't you see me "ping" you? **g**)
It was a learning experience for most of us 'Rookies'('94?) on what it really takes to grab the media's attention, and once grabbed, what it takes in terms of preparation, to get your message out in a clear and concise manner. How to handle the pressure of the camera and make your time count... how to feed 'em the sound-bites/excitement (visual or verbal) they're looking for, and NOT come off looking/sounding like some kinda 'Wing-nut'.
Since emotions/adrenalen is usually running pretty high at such events, one must carefully prepare your 10sec bombshell/speech, and be ready to deliver it in the proper tone, on cue.
The lefties are great at finding a way to use humor and/or 'Street Theatre' to get their mssg across to the media who eats that kind of preparation up. That's one reasons why I found a way to attend the 'Ruckus' sponsored Non-violent/Direct-Action, Week of Workshops, which they put on up here at Hatcher Pass a few years back.
The lefties always seem to get their point across and still leave you with a bit of a chuckle, even if I don't agree with their position.
Our local AFTC/Conservative 'events'(WACO/Michael New/Anti-NAFTA-GATT-WTO/Anti-Crime Bill etc etc) always seemed to be so damned HEAVY and angry.
This seldom wins over the TV viewing audience.
ME! ME! ME! Please add me! Save me from running a search?:^)
