Okay...now you've done it! I just stopped by for a quick look at what was going on at Billie and Snow Bunny's USO Canteen and what do I find? Just the sweetest, nicest story I've read in a while! This was a 3 Kleenex story!

I guess it's been posted before, but I've been out of the loop for a while and missed it. I never thought I would ever say this but...

GO GERMANS!!!

And, RonDog, thanks for posting this again.

LOL, I meant this guy.

Yeah, well, I was doing pretty good until...

Billie showed up with that handsome pilot, Louie,

and then you popped up with your dancin' 'feet'.

I just figured I'd been blown out of the water.

Thanks, I think. : )

I found this out today. A brother lost and found. Service to others until his last breath.
Sleep On and We WILL Remember

GySgt. Matt Garvey has been found at the WTC

Funeral is Tuesday, October 30th in Queens, NYC

Lynch's Funeral Home

43-07 Queens Blvd, Queens, NY

718-784-1515

Funeral Tuesday: Tues, 30 Oct at St. Theresa's, 50-21 44th St, Queens NY

Thanks to Bill Boyce & Don Johnson for the photo info...

Mathew D. Garvey, GySgt. USMCR, Fireman NYFD, was killed as a result of the terrorist attack on the WTC in NY. Matt was serving as a NYFD fireman in a rescue squad at the time of the attack. Matt, along with an unknown number of his company were attempting to save as many lives as possible in the WTC shortly after the second hijacked airplane impacted.

During their rescue efforts, the building that they were in collapsed. Matt was listed as missing since 09-11-01. Matt served in ANGLICO from 1983 to 1988 as a FCT chief, SALT chief, JM, and platoon Sgt. in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Bde. platoons. He was one of the finest Marines that I ever served with. I ask that all hands in the ANGLICO family pray for Matt, his mother, and brother.

AMEN

This is something I wrote a week or so ago and posted in my office along with the accompaning Gif. Hope you like it. It sure made me feel better after I wrote it.

Is it worth the fight?

As I walked among the graves at Hamm cemetary in Luxembourg where many of the Americans who died during the Battle of the Bulge are buried, I couldn't help but wonder whether or not the scarifice was worth the price they paid.

Then I thought about the millions of unmarked graves in which the victims of the fascist governments lie and immediately knew the answer.

Our heroes of previous generations, whether or not they knew it, were fighting for those unknown and unspoken-for victims. They fought either to free them or to avenge them.

Our soldiers' cause was noble and just. They knew they were fighting the fascist Nazi government. However, what they did not know at the time was that they were fighting to free the world from an evil unlike any known before.

Today, we are in a fight very much like that which was fought by our grandfathers.

Our enemies want to impose a way of life upon the world that is the antithesis of what we as a nation believe in and for what all who have served and died for this country have sacrificed so much for.

Our enemies today do not believe in the freedoms that our country is based upon. As a matter of fact those freedoms that make us a nation are part of the reason our enemies hate us so much.

As a nation of free people, we cannot forget the sacrifices of each and every American who has served this country, both home and abroad. Our military men and women and our public servants also have sacrificed much. Many have given all their tomorrows for our todays.

We have the freedom to go about our daily lives thanks to the sacrifices of many individuals, both past and present.

Is it worth the fight?

Hell Yes!!!!!!

SSgt Mike Reynolds.

Please excuse any typos and gramatical errors. I have posted my rough draft that was written before my English Major wife got a-hold of it.

My dad still has a bumber sticker that reads:

"Vietnam Vet,
I'll Forgive Jane Fonda, when the Jews forgive Hitler!"

Guess we all know where he stands (I agree 150%).

He was very pleased when I told him I found a place where he could still purchase "Hanoi Jane" urinal targets.

Oh Mike this is beautiful what you wrote and the graphic at the end is perfect. Thank you so much. All the males in my family have served this country and represent all the various services. One of my Unlces fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He lost his leg in that battle and said he would do it again if he had too to fight for America.

Thank you with all my heart for serving this country and for what you do here at FR and the Canteen. I love what you wrote so much. Thank you SSgt Mike my friend.
