No wonder that hundreds of Americans and Europeans recently marched across Europe and the Middle East begging forgiveness for the crusades from any Muslim or Jew who would listen. No wonder.

It must be true. The most abundant things in the universe are Hydrogen and stupidity.
Ignorance has a remedy; stupidity is forever.

I hope more people find out and learn that the crusades lated only 180 years, and Jihad has lasted 1300, on and off.
Mostly on.

The crusades were NOT something worth defending.

Yes they were. In principle. But the sack of Constantinople was indefensible.

"In truth, knowledge seems to have circulated in only one direction, coming from Islam and the Arab world to the West."

Of course, this was after the one way knowledge flow from the Christian east to the Islamic world.

Agreed, IN PRINCIPLE, the Crusades were a defensive reaction. It is the actual practice that I have a problem with.

Terry Johnes said they were at least originally a defensive war( it began as a letter from the Emperor to the Pope asking for help) he just mentioned it degenerated from that point.

Because they hated the Hapsburgs more than the Turks with good reason.
