Not only because we dominate them in every aspect, militarily, socially, financially and yes, EVEN CULTURALLY! (I know that offends some, but its the truth, and it is that cultural dominance and the reasons for it that are why they cannot win.) but because they do not even offer an alternative, like the verse of a contemporary country western song "then what?" If by some miracle of incomprehensible size should happen and america were to be defeated... Then What Bin Laden? Then what? You see you do not offer visions of the future, or of improvement, but visioins of destruction and terror. You don't have a goal or dream or desire to drive yourselfs to the future, just desperate hatred and cowardice and desires to destroy... you have no great pheonix to rise from the ashes of the carnage, the carnage is your only destination, and that alone will never be enough to cause it to come to pass.
The US Culture has its down side, just like all things, but the fundamentals of the american culture is opportunity and growth and freedom. Every american is free to better themselves, regardless of gender, or race or religion... The only limit upon them is the limit they themselves accept or place. Our women do not walk 3 paces behind the men, we don't genitally mutiliate girls at birth, we force our mothers and daughters into hiding and not allow them to participate.... we don't (despite what some leaders may believe) limit the growth or dreams of anyone... From our melting pot great men and women of all creeds, religions and colors have rose to help make our land and our world a better place... in your world, this will never happen because division and hatred is all you have.
You're right. I think Pipes is warning us of our corresponding responsibility to be vigilant in defence of our freedom. He references an"...Islamic missionary from abroad unblushingly declared in the 1920s, "Our plan is, we are going to conquer America." This can be done from within, as well as through external attacks. You're right, this is not a short term threat, but we must be aware of it. I'd feel much better if those loyal Americans of the Islamic faith, and they are many, would speak out more.
