Northern Alliance says bin Laden is in Maruf village in Kandahar province

KABUL, Nov. 18 (AFP) - Oussama Ben Laden is always in Afghanistan, in the province of Kandahar (southern), announced Sunday with the AFP Younis Qanooni, one of the persons in charge for the Alliance of north.

"According to my information, Ben Laden is still in the province of Kandahar, to Maruf, approximately 130 kilometers in the east of the town of Kandahar" said the Minister of Interior Department of the Alliance of the north, which controls Kabul since Tuesday.

"It has camps of drive there low and of underground bunkers" Mr. Qanooni added.

The town of Maruf is to about fifty kilometers of the Pakistani border, in the extreme is province of Kandahar.

Mr. Qanooni answered the assertions of dignitaries talibans according to whom Ben Laden would not be any more in the zones under-control of the talibans, even that it would have left the country.

By disseminating this information, "the talibans try to mislead the international community so that it ceases its air raids" estimated Mr. Qanooni.

Kandahar, stronghold traditional of the talibans, would be according to the agency Afghan Islamic Press, one of the four provinces which control still, partially or entirely, the fundamentalist militiamans who had accomodated and offered hospitality to Oussama Ben Laden five years ago.
