Buried deep in the files of the mammoth Florida litigation, Newsweek has uncovered hastily scribbled faxed notes written by Terry Lewis, the plain-speaking, mystery-novel writing state judge in charge of the Florida recount, that potentially changes the calculations rather substantially

15 yard penalty to Isikoff for abuse of verb tense to try and make an irrelvant point seem relevant.

Just how many times have these ballots been handled now? And they're still thought of as to be accurate?

No clowns need reply.

Except for pathetic creatures like Isikoff, this story is "deader than a wooly mammoth's nuts".

I still don't understand why we should feel that an election is only properly counted if we include illegally cast votes? Am I the only one who sees the logic of this?

However, 5 yards given back for a spelling error within a grammar critique ;)

The only thing this Florida fiasco proved was that people who are too stupid to vote....voted for ALGORE.

Then there is another small matter overlooked by the consortium: the numbers don’t add up. - - - - - In all, the NORC counters were able to inspect 175,010 disputed ballots that the counties identified as having gone uncounted or rejected. But those 175,010 uncounted votes are 1,436 ballots less than the 176,446 ballots that, the news organizations independently determined, had originally been reported by the counties as rejected or uncounted on election night.

So there is a discrepancy of 1436 ballots, a larger number than any of the winning margins dreamed up by the consortium. What a farce.

Actually, I think you've hit on the difference between the use of "feelings" and "logic".

You forget the 1200 military ballots THAT WERE ILLEGALLY REJECTED by direct order by Gore's lawyers, and NEVER COUNTED IN ANY "media" survey.

These ballots ARE NOT included in these "media NORC" counts either as 1000 votes for Bush, and 200 (approximately) for Gore. (Assuming their count is what the military surveys' at that revealed.)

GORE LOST! GET A LIFE, LOSERS!

Here's the thing ... these folks just keep coming back time and time again to plant a seed of doubt into people's minds. They know that Bush will be a formidable opponent in the 2004 elections and they're willing to do anything to undercut him politically -- even if it's something that is largely a moot issue.

The media would have done a better service to the TRUTH to explain to a generation of clueless Americans WHY Bush won the election. It is the perception of many a person on the street that the election was really won by Gore, because he did win the popular vote, but they simply do not understand the concept of an electoral college and the procedures in place to arbitrate disputes.

What are these crying libs going to do after Bush gets 83% of the votes in the next election? The first smart thing Gore has done is getting himself a real job....before the next elections.

They're keeping this alive for 04, that's all. You know how they are, It will lead the news casts every night for months and they will try to give people a chance to set the record straight, but I think it will have the opposite effect. Kind of like the guy who has lived with a gal without benefit of clergy, discovers he loves her and decides to "make an honest woman of her." The voters will get a chance to make an honest pres out him.(not that he's not) That's how it will be with Bush, all those sorry they voted for Gore will get a do over. HA HA.

regards
