When I was a kid, my brother and I hopped a fence into a neighbor's yard on a short-cut home.
First time either of us had seen a St Bernard!
We LEVITATED over the fence on the way out.
Later the neighbor brought him by to meet us -he knew my grandmother and father.
All you really had to worry about was getting your face licked off.
OTOH, a friend had a doberman that considered ALL the yards in the neighborhood her responsibility.
Kept the cable TV guy pinned against the neighbor's house for over 4 hours one day...
his 1st move when they called the dog off was to the bathroom.

I own a little chocolate mini-beagle named Rosebud and all other dogs are dull compared to her absolutely adorable personality....

In the words of DR. Henry Metzger's Dog.... This is my favorite book.Mostly because I have known people AND cats just like the characters in the book. I had my Doberman come home one day, followed by a 7 lb female cat. Meanest damn cat I ever saw in my life. Not afraid of anything or anybody. She hung around for 15 years, and the only thing that ever whipped her was cancer.
"The Butcher's Boy" ain't bad either. I have no idea why these two books are out of print. Either would make a damn good movie.

OTOH, a friend had a doberman that considered ALL the yards in the neighborhood her responsibility. Yes,Indeedy! Dobies are that way. Mine was a huge mouse once off "her territory",but you trespassed at your own risk. She wouldn't even let me answer a knock at the door unless she was between it and me.

Exactamundo! My Jack Russell is bad enough. You'd really need a super duper pooper scooper to clean up after this dog. Bless his heart.

"For those who run with the big dogs!"
My small dog is a Great Dane. My other dog is a Mastiff female about two years old and a petite 170 pounds. I named her "Mooch" for obvious reasons. The girl has yet to meet a food group she doesn't like.
Seriously, these are great dogs. Mooch is very protective in a non-agressive way. Mastiffs are more apt to use their bulk to block a threat than to bite. She's very alert and first to raise a ruckus if there's someone strange comes about. She follows me from room to room, sleeps by the bed, and is asleep by the computer as I type. They really don't eat all that much. My two go thru about 50 pounds of kibble every two weeks. They are great family dogs, but beware the tail, it's thick as a broomstick, crotch high and wags a lot, 'nuf said. Thanks for the picture.
