What do you think of Geraldo Riveras' debut as a war correspondent on Fox?

I couldn't help but smile watching this unabashed liberal serving this conservative news channel. I remember the fight Ted Turner put up to keep Rupert Murdoch from getting this forum for obvious reasons of keeping the conservative message from getting out. Also the fighting to keep Fox News from broadcasting on different Cable channels. Also, I watched Foxs' first commercial breaks, every break was the same sponsor which made me wonder if they were going to make it as a news source. That is why Geraldo makes me smile, FOX has made it...BIG TIME.

I like him better here than as host of one of the more insipid shows - "Geraldo Lies"

Geraldo has a great future in the feed service industries, not on television.

It could be that Fox hired Geraldo because of his ethnicity, not because of his war-reporting talents. Fox may have its own "affirmative action" problems with the government, and it can point to Rivera as its example of "diversity." Before it's all over, Geraldo may get discouraged and begin a defense tirade of his old favorite, bILLclinton. He could say, "This wouldn't be happened" if the country had elected Al Gore." He could speculate that "Gore would have carried out President Clinton's peace policies." Maybe Geraldo needed a raise, and Fox is comlying. Doesn't he pay a lot of alimony and child support?

He is so damn phony in this new job it's sickening. He is so self serving. I detest seeing him almost as much as the Clintons.

Whew! He made it before the war ended. I bet he's been sweating bullets since the fall of Mazar-e-Sharif.

At least he is on the right side this time. All of his KLA buddies are hiding in caves now. Even though there are probably very few Albanians fighting in this war, Gerald Rivers (his real name) probably interviewed some Chechen or Sauid fighter that are now in Afghanistan. Also now that his blowjob buddie is not running the country, he has been a little bit more accurate and impartial.

The report by Geraldo that I saw seemed to be more about him, his travelling difficulties, the high muckey muck he landed an interview with, etc., than about the actual events on the ground. Just the facts, please, and leave all the personal stuff for your memoirs.

Rivera is real diverse? Half Jewish and half Puerto Rican. A twofer. A threefer if you count the mustache.

Hey, somebody has to open Osama's hidden vault, possibly laden with treasures and riches!

I don't consider Geraldo as proof of "big time", lol...

I do think he makes a decent war reporter though. Its what he does on FOX - AFTER he gets back from Afghanistan - that worries me though.

Recently aired was a tape of Geraldo going undercover in pre-taliban Afghanistan, posing as an opium buyer. He was taken to a compound where tons of opium was open air drying. He had concealed a camera under his shirt. I was stunned, this kid has gonads.

I liked the Afghani body guard he had with him, he looked very irritated when Geraldo pulled him in front of the camera.

I don't even care what he may have to report -- I just can't stand to look at his face. The minute I see him on Fox, I click. I don't care if he gets an interview with Osama, I will not watch the guy.

Fox made a bad mistake.

The report by Geraldo that I saw seemed to be more about him

I saw that one, too. Finally, I said to his image on the television, "who gives a ratsass about you. I want to hear about the war", and switched channels.

It's too bad he didn't take some of his buddies with him, like x42 and Alan Dimmerwitts.

Exactly. In contrast, the other Fox reporter in Afghanistan (Harrigan?), is very self-effacing. Even when asked a question about his personal safety, etc., he inevitably turns his answer back to the bigger picture.
