I didn't see these groups (Germans, Irish,etc) coming here ILLEGALLY. When they came they learned the language, accepted the culture & ASSIMILATED. And they did NOT put America down. But this isn't their fault that they came to a region for opportunity (whether raising their standards of living or raising havock). It is our government for allowing it & GW is as guilty as anyone for this, especially with just this week of allowing Mexican trucks to travel throughout America under NAFTA.

Evidence please. Specifically, immigration laws and statistics for legal and illegal immigration in the 1850's.
