I think you're right. Now I remember that I saw the interview at the YMCA while I was working out on the treadmill. I think it was Sister Bay. I just remember that she was very complimentary to Door County and said she was having a wonderful time. I think she was on both King and Hannity & Colmes from Sister Bay. It still makes me sad. She was such a bright light.I think the local Fox News channel in Green Bay would drive up to Sister Bay (gee, I hope they got hardship pay) and set up the link. But I remember seeing her in Sister Bay & thinking, "that sure looks like the Wagon Trail." I don't think it was too far from Ted and Barbara's summer home. To think that she spent her last days in Wisconsin, and enjoying it....I kept wondering after she died if she did the final edit of her book up there. It'd be a perfect place--quiet, secluded, and away from everything.

Anyone who know's what cheese curds are, lived in Wisconsin.

Those would be the "drugs" that the Yoopers run down south from Iron Mountain? One of those will stick to the ribs. Combine it with a Point Special (Blue Bullet) and if you are laying down, plan on staying there for a while.

Ah yes, oleo. To this day I really get ticked off when we go to a nice restaurant and they bring us the rolls with margarine. I may use margarine for cooking, my kids may prefer it. However, I AM from Wisconsin and I use BUTTER! Believe me, the restaurant management ALWAYS hears about it. :-) Take care, God Bless, and Merry Christmas!

Yes, a whole pasty will put you in a coma for hours. I had a dozen of them sent to me last year - 6 beef, 6 rutabega - and they were terrible. Ended up throwing them away after sampling one of each.
That doesn't happen too often.

Well, there are several superfund sites to be discovered!

However, I AM from Wisconsin and I use BUTTER!GOOD FOR YOU, SUGAR! We're the same way. Don't EVER try to pawn that other crap off on us. Butter in the butter dish, butter in the cookies, butter for sauteing (sp?), and eggs are to be fried in butter (okay, occasionally bacon grease).
Margarine has NEVER crossed our threshold. I thank God every day that I married a woman from Wisconsin!

However, I AM from Wisconsin and I use BUTTER! Believe me, the restaurant management ALWAYS hears about it. :-) Take care, God Bless, and Merry Christmas!I can tell you the first time I ate at a Waffle House & saw this line on their menu: "We Proudly Serve Shedd's Spread" I thought I'd swoon. My grandma lived to 89 and ate butter every day. The one time my mother tried to serve oleo to my dad--well, I can safely say the air in that kitchen is probably still blue. I use oleo sometimes for baking, but we use butter for everything else. And Merry Christmas to you! I finished my shopping this week and I am sooo relieved. Next, the cards--this year, postcards (for obvious reasons).

...open a PABST... Back in the '70s in HS, my circle of friends attempted to have a drinking contest: Who could drink 8 beers that fastest. Anyway, the number of participants shrank to two. I was doing fine against the other guy until one of my 8 Schlitzes turned in to a Pabst. I slowed down to a crawl, the minutes ticking away, trying to down that cr@p.
Thanks to to the Blue Ribbon, it took me 34 or 36 minutes. Can't quite remember.

National Avenue ... they probably took the streetcar or trolley out decades ago!!! LOL! I also went back for my Mom's funeral in 1975. It was so cold (March) that in two years I had forgotten that March wasn't "spring"!
"Soda" versus "pop" ... I remember people calling it "soda pop" back in the olden days!
