i still find blue collar many people, regardless of color, who vote democratic simply because "my dad has always voted democratic." . . . a majority of the people, again regardless of color, still believe in this separation of church and state dictum espoused by the aclu. so many people do not factor in spiritual issues when they vote . . .

It's certainly very true many people vote a particular way because "their dad did," etc. And while I can understand belief in "separation of church and state" plays an influence on people's actions, it seems to me that if they paid attention to their leaders' morals and ethics, they would be pursuaded to vote for those or follow those who exhibit the higher standards (those are, more often than not, found among Republicans). And I'm not saying Republicans are saints, but you certainly do not see such charlotans and liars in the Republican party as one sees amongst the democRats (i.e., both Clintons, Leahy, Kennedy, Daschle, Boxer, Schuuuuuumer, Condit, (and a democRat in California who had illegal aliens vote her into office, forget her name). These people are all self-serving, self-interested, avoid answering truthful questions, etc. I cannot think of any Republican who compares to such immoral, unethical people. "Separation of church and state" aside, those who are in the Republican party, as a whole, operate on a much higher moral and ethical ground, exhibiting values espoused by the majority of American people. And because so many blacks are religious, good people, attending church, etc., I would think they would look to what their leaders represent and be convicted in their conscience that the democrats are bad.

your points are well taken. i think that people are beginning to see jesse jackson for who he really is. the other democratic leaders that are looked up to are hopefully beginning to fade. character counts.

Some credit for this must be given to Bill O'Reilly; the major media does not go after liberals. O'Reilly has. Whatever the total reason, I agree and am glad that people appear to be waking up. There seems to be more black conservatives coming to light, as well. (I happen to think that the Bush Administration has helped that along.)
