It can't harm you if you do speak its name--unless you give it the power to do so.

Bingo!!!! In the last ten years, I've not had a relationship with a woman I thought would last had it become a marriage. I'd like to find a wife, have a family, etc., but dogonne it, I'm not gonna marry some woman who's gonna cheat on me, then take half of my hard-earned stuff in a divorce!

I'm a History Channel nerd, but I know where you're coming from. A cold beer or two, a bowl of Tostitos and hot salsa, a Buccaneers game, and I'm happy.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

We're talkin' biblical stuff here. End times. Fire and brimstone. Don't take it lightly. :)

You could do so much better, but I selfishly hope that you don't.

He has had girls literally think there is something wrong with him if he's not trying to grope them on the first and second date!

Been there. More than once, young women asked me if I was gay, after noticing that I was treating them politely and keeping my hands off them.

Finally, I found someone who appreciated it.

"They can easily delete you," Mr. Hague says.

LOL. That was usuallymy experience as a single guy!

:-)

But even then, you find yourself wondering: "If this is so great, how come no one else ate it?".

Reminds me of some wisdom I saw scratched into the wall at a bar:

No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her sh!t.

That's just like the timeworn "None of my relationships have ever worked out." The key to analyzing that is: Who was the one constant factor in all those relationships?

Reminds me of the person who wrote on a job application that he had been unjustly fired from his last job, just as he had been from the six jobs before that one.

Yep. Once she's ready leave, kiss your rights (and money) good bye.

It's not just half of your stuff that would lose. While alimony is pretty rare unless you make the big bucks, if you have kids, like you said you did, count on doing without 20-40% of your take home pay for about two decades.

Here's another kick in the seat...alimony is deductable but child support isn't. I guess congressmen and senators pay more alimony than child support.

little disconcerting to have a conversation with a woman you've just met at a party and hear her complain that the good ones are all taken. Kinda hard to know just how to take that...

YIKES! A woman said that to you? How crass and completely insenstive. I have no idea what she thought she would accomplish or gain by such a stupid and insensitive statement.

On the topic of things not to say (in response to a poster above): I would recommend toning down (WAYYYYYYYYYY down) the talk of your divorce. When I meet a guy, and he starts talking about his divorce (especially on the first meeting), he sounds like a desparate, hurting flesh wound. Just yesterday, I met a man on the train who, after a few minutes, talked about his divorce. While I feel for him and he seemed like a nice guy, I wouldn't want to go out with him.

I have to commend you on one BAD ASS analogy!

With your permission, I'd like to use that one in the future...

Don't totally agree with that notion,

Well, I have reason to think that way. I believe that I have dated Satan. He was in the body of a girl who was once a sweet, pretty young thing. I'm pretty sure he took over about a month after we began seeing one another.

but love the screen name.....

Thanks.

Several single women who have lived there have told me that, for obvious reasons, single heterosexual men can have their pick of women if they are willing to move to San Francisco.

Well, duh. Of course there will be one woman 30 to 34 for every two men 35 to 44. The age range for women in this sentence is 5 years, while the age range for men is 10 years.

LOL. Excellent catch

Reminds me of an old quote I heard by Mickey Rooney:

No matter how pretty, sexy, and sophisticated, there's some guy somewhere who was glad to get rid of her.
