No, on the other thread, that was started when the plane was first reported down, several people explained that heavy bombers almost routinely take off with the fuel tanks less than full, and then top the tanks off as soon as the reach cruise altitude. This allows them to have a full load of ordinance (bombs) to play with.

This is bad news for MURRY MOM. The military is safe.

"Any ideas about how much water they went down in? All of it.
Glad they're OK!

Lot's of navy below that air bridge of bombers and tankers for just this purpose. If I'm not mistaken subs are also part of this "picketline" of sea lane rescuers albeit a secondary duty for most of em .
I believe this was what most of the allies are performing..... such as japans navy etc etc.
Stay Safe !

Another ping. AOK.

I really wasn't serious about the "gas guage" gag.
I don't know for sure whether the bomber went down after a long mission or right after takeoff. So a crack about "all the way to Afghanistan and back" could be inaccurate. Also, there could be any number of reasons why it went down other than running out of fuel. It was a weak attempt at humor by me...

USS Russell (Navy Ship) I'm sure nobody here thought it was an Army ship, or a bobsled.
This is good news.

You said:
"The Navy is always the first ones called to pull you zoomies out of the drink." Only because we haven't taught the planes how to float yet.
From a former "zoomie" to a "squid", thanks for drying the guys off.

As much as I dislike MurrayMom, I doubt that she would take any joy in the injury or death of one of our armed forces. MM makes a lot a statements that can be refuted/attacked/mocked/etc. for their content. We do not need to malign her character with such statements.
As much as it pains me to say it, I think you owe her an apology.

Don't you suppose that the Navy has a number of destroyers, or other craft, on station along the flight line from Diego Garcia? Seems to me they did that as far back as 1919 when the NC-4 made the Atlantic hop.

I missed something here. What happened? What brought them down? I haven't been watching TV. Forgive me. Thanks.
