2 teenage boys and a girl, all friends of the 19 year old daughter of the scientist, have been arrested in connection with the stabbing death. While the police have not said anything officially, a reporter for one station said the death was possibly related to "cult-like activity" and the reporter for a different station said the three suspects were involved in some sort of Goth group with the victim's daughter.

Well, the foil-hatters may be disappointed it's not a bunch of Arabs with expired visas, but the Harry Potter paranoiacs and anti-Satanists should be thrilled with this.

I listen to a lot of "goth" music (FYI, Marilyn Manson is NOT goth) and I have never felt the need to stab anyone.
But it must be the music, and, as you said, that nasty Potter dude.

Most of the goths I know are far to petty to organize into a cult.

Eh, I'll listen to NiN if I'm in an extremely bad mood, but I guess that isn't really Goth either. I haven't killed anyone either.

I've always considered NIN to be a goth-industrial sound. Trent Reznor is very talented, and yes, good to wallow in when in a foul mood.

Just reporting what they said. One said "cult activity" other said they were in a "goth group."
This is going to be a media circus around here. If the news was slow like it was this summer, I'm sure it would end up being a national media circus like Condit or the Menendez brothers, because the media loves upscale suburban teen murders, but I think the War on Terrorism may "save" us from that.

To: John H K
I know. I get really tired of how the media likes to sensationalize everything. Hopefully, you're right about being spared this nonsense.

LMAO!
Ok, I confess, sometimes while at the mall, I want to stab people who walk slooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww and do not look where they are wallking.

When I think of Goth I think of old Sisters of Mercy. Maybe I'm showing my age. Anyway that didn't want to make me stab anyway but rather just laugh at the pastel Gap hell that they were living in. Hell I say bring out more goth music!
And what DNA researcher is this? Can't find the story.

Speaking of goth schtick anyone know of the band that's called Treatous D or Notorius D? Its not really goth but more Iron Maideny. They were on the Daily Show and sang about slaying dragons with their swords. Played the Power Lute too. I couldn't stop laughing.

Thank you! I also despise the folks that use strollers for battering rams. Or think the mall on a Saturaday, at 1pm, two weeks before Christmas is a great time for their 1 year old to show off his walking skills.

LMAO! Great link.....I almost wet my pants looking at the list.

Death by clove cigarettes?I smoked about 10 cloves last weekend because that was all that was available to me. I wanted to die after that. They taste good, but not that good.
To: Bella_Bru
My almost 16 year old son, who describes himself as, "the happy, obedient kind of Goth", passed this list to me. Definite coke-on-the-keyboard time. :^)

I'm envisioning the Goth Gang vs. the Breeders at the local mall. Remember: once you're a goth you're a goth 4 life and you should join in on the beatdown. Word.

LMAO! I have hung up my most of my black and put away the Manic Panic hair coloring....but I feel a small pang of jealousy and longing whenever I see baby goths scowling at the mall.

OMG!!!! I love that skit!
My favorite was when his brother came down and said, "Mom says it's almost time to go to the Olive Garden for dinner with grandma, so you'd better dress normal."
To: Bella_Bru
Google search "snl goth" they have them by episode.

And now, a classic....
Marian (version)
In a sea of faces, in a sea of doubt
In this cruel place your voice above the maelstrom
In the wake of this ship of fools I'm falling further down
If you can see me, Marian, reach out and take me home.....
CHORUS
I hear you calling Marian
Across the water, across the wave
I hear you calling Marian
Can you hear me calling you to
Save me, save me, save me from the
Grave...
Marian
Marian, there's a weight above me
And the pressure is all too strong
To breathe deep
Breathe long and hard
To take the water down and go to sleep
To sink still further
Beneath the fatal wave
Marian I think I'm drowning
This sea is killing me
CHORUS
Was ich kann und was ich konnte (What I can do and what I
could do) Weiss ich gar nicht mehr (I just don't know anymore)
Gib mir wieder etwas schones (Give me something beautiful
again) Zieh mich aus dem meer (Drag me from the sea)
Ich hore dich rufen Marian (I hear you calling Marian)
Kannst du mich schreien horen (Can you hear me calling?)
Ich bin hier allien (I am here alone)
Ich hore dich rufen Marian (I hear you calling Marian)
Ohne diene hilfe verliere ich mich in diessem ort
(Without your help I am lost in this place)
CHORUS
[repeat Marian til end]

LOL! I forgot this line which just blasted in my ear ... "stuck inside of Memphis with the mobile home" ... Memphis is so Goth!

I haven't listened to that in years!
Here's a link that could explain the line, looks like an allusion to a Bob Dylan song "Stuck inside a Mobile with the Memphis Blues again"

No, he isn't goth, but he does have a love for all things black and creepy.

Remember: once you're a goth you're a goth 4 life sigh.... College, the Army, powerlifting, and getting a real live job as a defense systems engineer couldn't *cure* me (so ta speak). It's only made it worse, really.
I guess I'm a Nabisco Goth now: All square on the outside, all Goffy on the inside.
I'm listening to 'The Nefilim', ZOON right now. I'm as giddy as a school-girl before the next N'Sync release at the prospects of the new Fields of the Nephilim AD album coming out...

No, I am not goth, but like the lady says, I enjoy wearing black, and creepy also appeals to me. Call it my sinister side I suppose.
Dark, evil, sullen music and stuff just speaks to me. So I'm a Black Sabbath fan, to be sure. But don't let the persona fool you, I'm REALLY a nice guy! :-)
To: John H K
Well, the foil-hatters may be disappointed it's not a bunch of Arabs with expired visas,... What a stupid, stupid statement.
Why would you say something so stupid?
To: Bella_Bru
But, but... I thought that was illegal... You wouldn't break the law, would you?
