Zogby blamed a "steady diet of anti-Arab information" for the swing in public opinion, saying that "those who are seeking to disrupt and discredit the relationship are working overtime."

No Mr Zogby...I think a bunch of maniac Arabs flying airliners full of men women and children into occupied bldgs full of innocent civilian men, women and children...while other arab maniacs all over the world danced in the street at the news of their demise is the reason for this swing in public opinion.

There's the problem. Zogby shows he's just a lefty concerned with "representation" of and "perception" about other nations, rather than facts.
Actually the average American is more informed about the mid-east than any "western" people I've met. Note that "61 percent of respondents saying that the Israelis and Palestinians were equally to blame", certainly a snetiment one doesn't find much at FR.

Can't seem to make up your mind?
61% of respondents have succumbed to Muslim/Arabprop and combined it with the pathetic combination of PC and ignorance.

If anything, this story demonstrates that the "average American" is profoundly ignorant, but never hesitant to voice his opinion.

RobRoy: LOL! But 61%? That's high. I remember people not politically inclined talking about the Saudis first when Prince Talal made his "reexamine your ties to Israel" deflection. It was amazing that in the media they tried to turn this into just some intemperate but "based in truth" statement. But regular people I knew often commented on the obvious hypocrisy of the statement--e.g. "Doesn't Osama hate the Prince and his government the most? What is he reexamining?" But the PC media, unlike common sensical people, is more concerned with constructing foreign problems as having no internal or historical context unless it can be fashioned to criticize America.

Somehow I'm supposed to believe that some goat herder in Bumfuq, Egypt has a better grasp on the world order than I do.

Well, that's one way to look at it.

Of course I believe that using the invidiousness tool among the rest of the world's ignorant works like a charm.
That's why Communism survived almost a hundred years.
Ignorance and poverty does rule most of the world, so yes, they do have a firmer grasp of the "current world order".

I mean, at FR, there are many anti-Israel disruptors and Israel can do no wrong posters. The latter reveal its allegiances, affinities, or tastes. The former, especially lefty disruptors, reveal none because they would have to confront that their pseudo-intellectual obsessions are founded in either nihilism or reactionary anti-Americanism--they are faithless in any form. Israel isn't perfect, who is? But I agree with you ~98% that most anti-Israel statements are Arabprop and reactionary lefty adversarialism.

The pan-arabist cabal between Saudis, Yemenis, Moroccans and Arab Expatriots in Afghanistan among others was exposed and their failure to act against it in advance revealed them to be weak minded & weak willed, and very dangerous.

You are being way too kind.
I believe they were complicit.

I think you're right for the most part. They are definitely westernized, so whether Pan Arab Islamic, 'Aryan", neo-nazi, or leftist ideologically (the anti-war.com group), they share a common cause as you stated.

When I note "Pan Arab Islamic" by the way, I mean Muslims who have bought into the Arab Nationalism ideology which inevitably is a blame the west and "zionism" belief. Muslims who have divested themselves of this insidious ideology (a minority comparatively) are for the most part not inclined to engage in this type of anti-western and "zionist" rhetoric. This is characteristic of the Turks for example, who, under the leadership of Ataturk, knew that Arab Nationalism combined with Islam was a regressive force.

Amazing that an Opinion Pollster doesn't understand the difference between an opinion and an action.

There may well be large numbers of Americans with an unfavorable opinion of Arabs, but there are large numbers of Arabs and other Muslims who have taken unfavorable (and that's a charitible categorization) actions that are anti-American.

There's is a world of difference, and thousands of dead Americans, between these two.

I can't help you over the hurdle, but everyone else seemed to understand. I'll say it plainly for you:

Most news organizations are "working overtime" to cast Arabs and Muslims in as positive a light as possible.

This makes one wonder what will happen if the time ever comes to choose sides for the sake of survival.
Will these people be remembered for their contribution to the problem?

I am one of the switcheroos reflected in this poll.

You're not alone. My wife was extremely anti-Jewish and anti-Isreali and very fond of the Middle-Eastern Arab/Muslim culture. Since 9/11, she is .. and is becoming .. more pro-Israeli and anti-Arab/Muslim than I am, and that's saying a lot, as I was extremely pro-Israeli and anti-Arab/Muslim even before 9/11. I just want them all dead ... she wants to torture them first.

200 years from now, I want their children's children's children's children to cower and cringe in fear whenever they hear the sounds of jet engines overhead because their legends tell of fire from the sky.

I want them to hide in dark caves and holes in the earth, shivering with terror whenever they hear the roar of diesel engines because the tales of their ancestors talk about metal monsters crawling over the earth, spitting death and destruction.

I want their mothers to be able to admonish them with "If you don't behave, the Pale Destroyers will come for you", and that will be enough to reduce them to quivering obesience.

I want the annihilation to be so complete that their mythology will tell them of the day of judgment when the stern gods from across the sea .. the powerful 'Mericans .. destroyed their forefathers' wickedness.

Kill them all ... nits make lice.

The Arab lobby in Washington is blaming the "anti-Arab propaganda campaign" that has been waged since the September 11 attacks for the shift in attitude.

A truly Orwellian statement. There is propaganda all right, but it is pro-Islam propaganda to keep the lid on the pressure cooker.

No, Arab states are Islamic. We lost many people in the name of Islam. No Arab state has denounced the attack strongly. Therefore, Arab states should be anathema to right-thinking people. It has nothing to do with propaganda.

The public opinion is created by the mainstream media for the sheeples of this country, so the so called "swing" is basically meaningless. The political agenda of the mainstream media does not reflect the national interest of the United States.

When I/you look at a Middle Eastern man what is the first thing that goes through your mind? I immediately think of a Suicide Bomber or a Terrorist. I'm suspicious and leery of them all.

Just look at all the havoc and terror these types have wrought on Israel and the USA. No wonder Arabs are rated less than dung in the opinion polls.

They’re all stereotyped because of all the bombings and murdering their ilk perpetrate on innocent people and children.

Support is still too high. It should be lower.

Since this poll was taken, it is likely that it has gone lower. Terminology will need continual clarification. This poll is purportedly about "arabs." I wonder what the poll results would be for 'muslims."

My personal circle of contacts vary quite widely, in race, ethnicity, education, politics. I have been surprised about how strongly they support our war efforts, and how badly they classify "arabs" and "muslims."

I have worked with arabs and Iranians, and know that they cannot be trusted, in the same way we do business. Historically, they cheat and war against their own blood relatives, so we should expect their dishonesty.

I hope the Zogby brothers understand the issue is substance, and not just tweaking the public relations presentation.

And that's the major problem isn't it? They are shifting the blame away from the terrorists again, as they always do. It couldn't have anything to do with thousands of dead Americans could it; no, that would be impossible, it must be that anti-Arab propoganda.

True, but is this in the interests of America or Israel? Certainly not for America and that's why we're here.

I disagree and it appears the majority are on my side. I hate to clue you in on this, but you do not get to define what is in the interests of America all by yourself. We all get a voice.

IMO, Israel could care less about what happened on 9-11.

IMO, Israel cared a great deal which is why thousands lined up and gave blood. It is also why Israel offered to send experts to help with the rescue effort. Those are FACTS. Do you have any FACTS to support your opinion?

If Israel did, it would leave us alone and stop trying to get us to fight its war for them.

Again, this is your perception which does not appear to be backed up by facts or reality. No surprise there.

You have this weird notion that America's interests and Israel's interests are in conflict. They are not. America's interests and Muslims' interests are what is in conflict. That's what has your burqa in a twist.

It might have been that way before Sept 11 since we were content to ignore previous attacks on the WTC in 1993 and all the other terrorist acts against the US. On Sept 11, Americans were attacked by Arabs on US soil and that makes it our war now.
