Liberals tried to capitalize on Bush's reputation as a partyboy in his youth. Now Chelsea will have a public record if she ever decides to follow her mother's footsteps. I have mixed emotions on this but the Clintons did trot out Chelsea when it suited their twisted political ambitions like pushing Chelsea out front on Martha's Vineyard after the Monica revelations or campaigning for her mother. More recently, Chelsea took advantage of her celebrity parents to publish her experiences on 9/11. If an adult seeks the limelight, they must expect that they expose themselves to favorable as well as unfavorable attention. News items like this appear almost daily when sport stars or entertainers are caught in embarassing situations - why is this any different?

Underage drinking deserves
little attention by media standards since they totally ignored the antics of Algore's kids. Karina got high all the time and even Algore the III was suspended from HS because of smoking pot! (Not to mention other infractions involving liquor and cars) Did you see these stories splashed all over the papers? No, of course not. He's a democrat.
My point is that Chelsea would get deference, but she wrote those liberal articles and made leftist public statements that make her fair game.

Authorization
Today, the Secret Service is authorized by law to protect:
the President, the Vice President, (or other individuals next in order of succession to the Office of the President), the President-elect and Vice President-elect; the immediate families of the above individuals; former Presidents, their spouses for their lifetimes, except when the spouse re-marries. In 1997, Congressional legislation became effective limiting Secret Service protection to former Presidents for a period of not more than 10 years from the date the former President leaves office. children of former presidents until age 16; visiting heads of foreign states or governments and their spouses traveling with them, other distinguished foreign visitors to the United States, and official representatives of the United States performing special missions abroad; major Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates, and their spouses within 120 days of a general Presidential election.
I stand corrected.

Chelsea should be left alone, at least until she seeks the public eye for herself.
You can't pick your parents.
To: truther
She is also the daughter of two parents who were so infatuated with themselves that they forgot to be parents, except for during photo-ops.

Vince Foster would be saddened to see his daughter acting in such a manner. And BTW, where is HILARY! in all this?

Earlier this year I was disgusted to see the media exploitation of the Bush children by the tabloids and this tripe is no better. Teenagers and people in the early twenties have been known to get drunk long before Chelsea Clinton and the Bush girls arrived. I think it is time for Newsmax (alias Nutmax) to go back to reporting on UFO's and selling cures for baldness and leave newsreporting to the journalists.

Thank you. I love NewsMax too. By the way, NM has the right to express its opinion.

Pretty much...the Bush girls should have a private life. Trouble is, their dad is president, so they should watch their p's and q's. I suppose the same is true of Chelsea. But considering her old man is out of a job these days, I think it's time to drop the veil on her doings and give the girl some peace.

Chelsea should be left alone, at least until she seeks the public eye for herself. See #58. She's already done that, and in a very political manner as well.

She's spotlight deprived. Can't stand being in the wings. She's a Bush twin wannabe. Too bad, Chelsea. The Bush twins are cute even when drunk. They also have a caring Grandma to straighten them out.

Now that
decent people are living in the White House, Chelsea should drop in for a visit.
[Does anyone remember the story here? When the Clintons were in Washington D.C. driving past the White House during the late 80's, Chelsea asked her mom if they could stop for a visit and was told "Not until decent people are living there." It all depends on what the definition of 'decent' is, one supposes.]

What is all these stances to suddenly defend scumbags' daughter? A consistent approach to journalistic standards, instead of berating the media for talking about Jenna/Barbra and lauding them for doing the same to Chelsea.
Double standards are wrong, period.

Good for her! She just now going through the teenage rebellion phase, now that she's an ocean away from Hillary!
College kids getting drunk is nothing new
