To all,
In years past, I have met up with friends at a little known monument on the ellipse. It is called the 2nd Division monument and it is between Constitution Ave and the Ellipse. This is what it looks like:
If you are standing at the rear of the Ellipse, facing the White House, with the Washington Monument to your rear, this small monument is to your left rear next on Constitution Ave.
How about tentatively planning to meet at 12:00 noon in front of this 2nd Division monument. (This is usually where the Connecticut and Massachusettes pro-life bus groups gather, but it is a quiet spot away from the crowd.)
Plus it is a good neutral ground for an ecumenical gathering of pro-life Freepers!

A bump. Just a note, I can't be there.

Thanks for designating a meeting place. I've printed out the map and will be there. Anyone know which Metro train to take from Union Station to get to this monument?

I cannot be there either. I shall enjoy being there vicariously through you and other friends who will attend.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Please keep me on the bump list for this. I'd like to come along but I don't know if we can make it. I'll have to check with the wife.
Great idea, btw.

Did anyone bump the DC Freepers?
To: Antoninus
No, would you be so kind?

Anyone know which Metro train to take from Union Station to get to this monument? The Federal Triangle stop appears to be the closest stop to the Ellipse. This map doesn't show the streets and points of interest, but I have a Streetwise Washington DC map that does.
For a more comprehensive map, you can go to the official Washington Metro site.

Ah yes, thank you, it all comes back to me now. Switching to the Blue Line and meeting up with all the other pro-lifers on the platform--the hand-clapping and the singing. I am getting psyched for this already.

Has anybody put together a meeting place yet?
Steve & I are driving up to Springfield Metro, so we can carry our signs downtown in front of all the people not going to the March. I'm going to try to get some literature together to pass out.

See Reply 41.
I am thinking of doing a sign saying "Hands Off New York's Crisis Pregnancy Centers." Or maybe "Idiot Spizer: Get Your Grimy Hands Off New York's Unborn Children."

I'm planning to print out a couple of abortion pictures, glue them in the middle of posterboard, captioned with "It's a Baby, not a Blob" or "This Choice Is Wrong" or some variants thereof.
Those ought to go over real well on the Blue Line, hence the need for literature.

I'm trying to put together a last-minute brochure to hand out on the Metro to people who confront me (not that *I* would ever confront anyone myself of course - just ask my husband about Inauguration Day). Anybody got any good links? I'm not totally emptyhanded but would appreciate suggestions.

Do you have a color printer? If so save this to your hard drive and print it out (or do a search for "drudge abortion picture" or something similar online):
One of the most amazing photographs, that you'll ever see, is that of Samuel, a 21 week old baby boy, whose tiny hand reaches out of the womb to grab the finger of the surgeon, who was operating on him -- as if to say, "thanks doc you did a wonderful job."
It happened when Dr. Joseph P. Bruner, director of fetal diagnosis and treatment at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, was performing a cutting-edge procedure on the 21-week-old fetus. Bruner and Samuel's parents hope the surgery will alleviate the effects of spina bifida, a disabling birth defect in one or two of every 1,000 babies born.
During the procedure, surgeons remove the uterus from the mother, drain the amniotic fluid, perform surgery on the tiny fetus, replace everything and put the entire package back inside the mother. The procedure on Samuel took about an hour.
The defenders of a women's right to kill her unborn baby, would have you believe that Samuel is nothing but a non-sentient blob of tissue. Never again will they be able to make that statement.

If you have time - I'd try to get some pamphlets from Project Rachel or a local Pro-Life organization.
I don't have anythin like that on-hand right now.
Hope to see you on Tuesday tho
God Bless!

The Manhattan Right to Life Committee was putting together some literature last Wednesday evening. They are at 212-947-2692. Maybe they could fax or e-mail it to you.
