but the FACT that no Establishment voices have been uttering the straight goods on these and many other pressing matters FOR YEARS legitimizes Buchanan's platform, good and bad.

And that is not good. :*(

Agree!

Wonderwhy you didn't throw in Brokaw, Jennings, Rather or Larry King I'm sure they must have writted a book along the way.

OK, I'll bite. Buchanan is as qualified as Brokaw, Jennings, Rather and even Barney the Dinasaur to be president of the United States and leader of the free world.

Laws are man-made rules, they can change, and they can be interpreted differently. You have never exceeded the speed limit?

So we should teach only the history that makes people do what you want them to do? Or even change the history books to say what we want?

History is a case of he said, she said.

Even the theories of hard science, which rest on more rigorous proof than ever we can subject history to, stand only for a moment.

You teach the version of history that makes your society strongest.

Teach a version that weakens your society, and your society perishes.

<<"In the 1920s we had the end of war, in the 60s the end of poverty, and in the 80s the end of history. Stupid predictions never cease."....bla bla.... >>

Not a history buff, I take it.

>> Racist: discriminatory especially on the basis of race ...[Making distinctions.] Every one of these statements are based on racial distinctions and racial issues.

The "making distinctions" goes hand in hand with discriminatory on that definition. Racial issues does not equal racism. Going from making distinctions to discriminatory is a jump.

racism: belief that some races of men are by nature superior to others: discrimination based upon such belief.

racial: of, relating to or based on race: existing or occurring between human races.

AHHH the dictionary wars have started.

Petronski you accuse Buchanan of racism based upon what?

Here's the thing - most individual's decisions on reproduction have nothing to do with the needs of the Volk as many would like to think. The decision to have children is based on individual needs and wants at a given point in time. By and large, the benefit of having kids today is primarily emotional (which I am not saying is a bad thing mind you) rather than partly economic and social as it has been in the past. Children do cost money to raise and many people would rather spend their earnings on other things or defer their child-rearing to a point where they can afford it.

In order to analyze the issue properly requires that people not look things ideologically, but rather in the light of how people make choices and what factors, then and now influenced the choices they made and make today.

Still not facts to back up your statements? I have given you plenty of time.

doing much of the difficult agricultural work that Americans choose to avoid.

Its not just agri-business any more, Dr. Many of the jobs they take merely reflect the greed of employers. Construction is a good example. Jobs that paid 15.00 to 20.00 per hour 15 years ago are now paying 6.00 to 8.00 per hour and even the foremen are generally bi-lingual, so as to be able to communicate with both the crew and the business owner.

Service and agricultural jobs are never attractive. I would hate to pay $15.00 for a hamburger just so the kid that cooked it can buy a new DVD.

How cognizant you are of the enormity of the Enron scandal remains unknown, however, Kenneth Lay of Enron is Bush's chief financial backer.

LOL! Like the mainstream media, you try to make Lay stick to Bush like glue.

As has been shown by more astute FReepers than I, Enron was in bed with the Democrats when it was experiencing its greatest growth.

If Lay gave money to the Catholic Church, you'd say the Pope was compromised somehow, too, I suspect.

"They have nothing to do with one another: A tariff is something you levy on foreign goods while an income tax is a tax on domestic income. "

What have they to do with one another? Try this, American business are handicapped with income taxes, real estate taxes, increased costs because of government regulation - all of which are reflected in the price. While foreign goods comes in tax-free and, in fact, can be subsidized by their governments. The American business horse is carrying the government handicap on his back. We need a tariff to equalize the horse handicaps.

Now how about sticking to the book?

But there are many other problems... Let's assume that the Immigration issue is solved.
How would you address the fact that Union Labor is so expensive... Gas at $.85 on US produced Oil? Don't think so...

Japan would be a good test case -- if he includes "Japan" as a Western nation then he is not speaking primarily in terms of "racial and geographical lines".

Good point. It would certainly be interesting to see if Buchanan includes Japan in "the West." If so, he should value Japan's population growth just as much as the birthrates in US and Europe.

But I don't hold out much hope for Buchanan doing this, since the article eludes to Asia's population boom being a bad thing.

In my opinion, it would be better to just leave race and geography out of it. Why not focus on the principles of freedom and rights? If our goal should be simply to preserve western civilization, as Buchanan seems to propose, there would be no basis on which to exclude communism and socialism, or any other ills of the West.

This is just another reason why I'm glad that this baby never became POTUS. We needed a real man-someone who knows how to encourage us through tough times.

Buchanan is simply the living book tour, and some apparantly love to finance the wimp-thus becoming one themselves.
