This time next year there will be millions more illegal aliens in country. The Republicans will still be debating the issue while trying to rationalize how they can possible gain more votes out of it, as the Democrats will just sit back and laugh. This nation is in desparate need of a party the represents America, or whats left of it by then.

Regrettably I agree Joe. The Republicans have become so comfortable in DC that they no longer have the backbone to make tough policy decisions in the interests of the majority of their constituents if it draws the ire of the socialists or certain business lobbies. In poll after poll most Americans think our immigration is too excessive. Who is representing the American people on this?

#655: The problem being, most of what's in the Libertarian platform is pure utopian wishes.

And even it the platform were even remotely implementable, the cry for open borders and legal drugs would still be insane. I've seen entire neiighborhoods wiped out from drugs and now I've seen both World Trade Towers toppled because of our insane immigration policy.

Frankly, that's enough for me...

The problem with the immigration issue and why nothing gets done is that "everyone wants to go to Heaven, but nobody wants to buy a ticket."

To wit, they support "getting tough on immigration" as a concept, but then suddenly get very reluctant when the conversation turns to details--because some of those details will personally inconvenience them.

IN REAL LIFE I pay taxes, and I do not appreciate having MEChA and La Raza chapters in taxpayer supported high schools and universities. Again, these groups are ant-white, anti-U.S. sovereignty, and have publicly stated their intent to reconquer lost lands from their European-American overlords.

Yes but this is not racist. Only European-Americans can be guilty of that. /sarcasm off

We have been called by the world, the great experiment, well I don't know about you, but I never agreed to be experimented on. There are people here on FR that will tell you just how much they despise you for even claiming that there is a native culture in the USofA. If you do not agree to go along with the lie that we all arrived here last week and that we are all therefore immigrants you are not their new best friend. While culture is a nice thing to have it may not last, but the most important part of it must last, that being the Constitution that we hope to pass down wheather or not people in 2050 celebrate Sinco De Mio or Ramadan they must realize and care about the importance of the document that makes America, America.

A cry for help on a sinking ship. A mother handsoff her young child to a crowd-filled life boat -- MissAmericanPie who never wanted to be part of the experiment only asks that we save the Constitution.

the FACT that many Mexicans want all of the benefits of the US without adopting the history, language and culture of the US.

That's what is being seen in the SW now, they can come over, gain US citizenship, keep Mexican citizenship, vote in both countries' national elections, never learn English, never learn what the Constitution is but have welfare benefits offered to them in Spanish. Things aren't right the way they are now.

"Besides, multiculturalism tends to be a phenomenon of native-born, overly-idle leftists."

Wrong. Multiculturalism is an idea whose purpose is to destroy our culture and balkanize our society - and it is working. It is keeping new immigrants from melting into American society. It is alienating minorities. It is breeding hatred and promoting racism. Multiculturalism is a very dangerous and very evil idea.

True. Until republican candidates put the interests of the country on this issue above their political career and are willing risk their office on the principle of doing the right thing, nothing will get done. I thought in the wake of 9/11 there would be more of an attitudinal change on immigration.... apparently not.

You have to identify the problem before you can solve it.

Agree.

But there are many ways to present the problem that you have identified; especially, if you want a majority to join you in solving the problem. I believe Buchanan's presentation of the problem reaks of certain buzzwords that will repel more people than it will gather to solve the problem.

Humanity would be much better served by creating societies where the rights of all people are protected rather than dividing ourselves up by bogus criteria.

And who would "create" these societies? Utopia only exists in one's mind.

"Ok tell me why Pat felt it important to write a book about "Third World" immigration??

Because that is where the immigration is coming from? Because it is the truth?

The melting pot does not work anymore. It has been destroyed by welfare and liberalism. Only way to protect our culture, our country and our freedom is to stop the invasion of people from foreign cultures.

And how many can we take in anyways without destroying our prosperity and our standard of living?

Pat is just the messenger, not a cause of our problems

I agree with you...Pat is not the CAUSE of our problems...however, as I stated before...it is a pity that a man who had the attention of the news media would have squandered that power by tearing down, rather than building up, America.

His cries about - the end of the white man - help to tear down because he could take the information that he has and rally all Americans to make changes...but for some reason he wants to point out how it is hurting the white people...rather than how the criminal activity of illegal immigrations is hurting ALL Americans.
