That bothers me, too. I remember an incident where Hubby and a friend overflew a naval base in Virginia, in a gas company helicopter...and you can BETCHA there were fighter jets escorting them our of the airspace IMMEDIATELY. That was years BEFORE 9-11. You'd think that military base security would INCREASE rather than DECREASE since 9-11.

Option 1 is the plane was deliberately ignored for whatever reason on whoever's orders. Option 2 is the US military is so overextended betweenbudget cuts, corruption and various undeclared wars they can't do all that much at home.

You guys may want to look at my posts from last week where I suggested that The Little American Taliban Boy that crashed his plane into the Tampa skyscraper was a conservative. Each of you went to great extent to claim I was just trying to cause trouble or that Mr. Bishop was a liberal Democrat. However, it has now been revealed that The Little American Taliban Boy was a member of the Young Republicans!

Of course I was right in my analysis of Mr. Bishop and each of you were wrong. However, I have not seen the outrage form the Fine Americans at Free Republic condemning The Little Young Republican Taliban Boy and his family. When John Walker was found with the Taliban there were hundreds of posts here condemning his liberal parents. I even, condemned the Walker boy but no one here is willing to link Mr. Bishop's actions with his being a Young Republican.

Such hypocrisy!

No. John Walker joined Al-Qaeda and fought against his own country. Charles Bishop joined no terrorist group... no Islamist terrorist tracts in his room... no there is indeed no indication that he was anything besides a fatherless boy with a family history of suicide attempts (it does mention that BOTH his parents attempted to commit suicide before his birth), who himself tragically committed suicide. Guess you'll see what you want to see.

I barely caught a fleeting comment on local Tampa radio that said some young man a few blocks away caught the actual crash into the building on videotape. Can anyone verify this?

I have half a hunch that the suicide note and the crash tape may soon be released now that the kid's funeral is over.

Tampa may be liberal but The Young Republican Suicide Taliban Pilot lived in Palm Harbor, Florida and was proud of his membership in the Young Republicans. Now, I ask again. Where is the outrage? When it was announced that Mr. Johnny Taliban Walker was from Marin County, many conservatives blamed his liberal parents. Now that it is known that The Taliban Suicide Pilot was a Young Republican no one here beside myself seems to want to make the connection.
