Good one! Not that I read the NYT anyway, but bet you're right on!

My parents I have had a good laugh at this idiot. It is extremely humorous how he thought he could somehow strike terror into us on a Saturday, in a tiny plane. Good riddance, Mr. Bishop. However, hopefully you did find Christ before your death.

Thank goodness no one else was hurt by this little idiot!

Attempted murder? He flew a small aircraft into an empty building on a Saturday evening. Sounds like a flamboyant suicide to me. Now, if he had somehow managed to get there on a Friday afternoon, or flew into a school during the school day...or flew into any of the buildings or barracks at McDill, or a mall or a restaurant, then I'd consider it a murder suicide.

When? Oh when? will the Congress close the airplane loophole?

It is extremely humorous how he thought he could somehow strike terror into us on a Saturday, in a tiny planeHad the aircraft's fuel supply ignited inside the building matters could have been much, much different.
Actually the results of his actions were the "best" case scenario (except for the pilot, aircraft owner, aircraft operator, owner of the building and about a dozen, odd insurance companies).

empty building?
To: Amerigomag
empty building? There were something like 15 people in the building. There were more people on the street watching what happened.
To: Tennessee_Bob
murder suicideNope. Not murder suicide.
The reason it is termed murder-suicide is because the murder or attempted murder is committed before the suicide.
Suicide-murder is termed terror.
To: Amerigomag
Oh, ok. I see the difference.
It wasn't really a 15 year old boy trying to kill himself in a way that would call attention to himself. It was actually a terrorist attack against the United States. And rather than hit the military base where the war in Afghanistan is being directed from, he hit a 99% empty bank building. When he could have struck a serious blow against the United States at McDill, causing panic, increasing security measures, and possibly taking out a lot of military assets, he elected to hit the BOA building, and instead introduce a general paranoia in certain portions of the population.
Yeah, that makes sense now.
To: Tennessee_Bob
...or flew into any of the buildings or barracks at McDill,...First off, it's spelled MacDill. Second, how in hell did the folks at MacDill let him fly over? Maybe St. Pete/Clearwater tower told them, "Hey, it's only a fifteen year-old kid." But, what if he had a load of explosives with him? Somebody's a$$ ought to be grass.

We have a tough time ahead.
Who could profile this guy. Check out the first photgraph.
We live in a sad sad world.

That was very good indeed. It was so good I want to steal it. Only one small detail troubles me ... You wrote
" ... America brought this on herself ..." I'm afraid that the official liberal style book does not use the feminine pronoun when evildoers are being referred to. America, the Great Satan, is of course evil. Therefore
herself really should be
itself.
Sorry to be so pedantic. That was otherwise excellent.

Mc, Mac, you knew which AFB I was talking about. :o)
It's just as well that fighters didn't get off the ground. If they were trying to shoot him down, they would have made a hell of a lot more mess than he did.

I want to know why in the heck there's NO CAP over MacDill. We scrambled two F-15s from HOMESTEAD? It's at ten minute ride on burner to get there. Something's not right here.
