No Orthodox Christmas break, more killed in Chechnya

At least two-dozen people were killed in continuing violence in Chechnya, where Russian forces are conducting a manhunt for rebels, reports said.

Interfax news agency said 12 Chechen rebels were killed Monday, the Orthodox Christmas, citing pro-Russian witnesses on the scene in Argun, close to Grozny.

Russian military sources said that one of the dead had been identified as a Chechen commander, Magomed Gutsuiyev.

Russian federal forces have encircled Argun since Saturday, allowing only women, children and the eldery to move in and out of the city. Some 40 people have been brought in for questioning.

Interfax said hundreds of Argun residents held a demonstration Tuesday to demand an end to the blockade.

RIA Novosti news agency cited the interior ministry saying a staffer in the pro-Russian administration of Vedeno and his eldery father and young son had been killed by attackers in their house.

Members of the pro-Russian administration in Chechnya are considered traitors by rebel independence fighters, and dozens of them have been killed in recent years.

Two pro-Russian Chechen police were killed in and around Grozny, while two others died in mine explosions, Interfax said. A fifth policeman and demining expert was also blown up in the Urus-Martan region.

An elderly Russian couple, both in their 70s, were killed at home in Grozny in their sleep, Interfax said.

Finally an unexplained explosion in the village of Staryieh Atagui, south of Grozny, killed four people and wounded three, police said.

Don't know why you reference "Islamicist" rebels when writing about Russian genocide in Chechnya, but the Chechen freedom fighters under the direction of democratically elected president Aslan Maskhadov are filling Soviet era body bags every day with the poorly trained conscripts of Mother Russia.

Argun would be quite a prize for the murderous ex-KGB thug Putin -- perhaps he should roll in the armour so the entire world can witness a replay of the first battle of Grozny. Nothing like the smell of brewed-up BMP's in the morning...

Four hundred Chechen veterans now encircled in Argun just begging the Russian swine to come in and have their lunches handed to them. Chechen commandos control the night -- as units infiltrate in and out of the battle zone at will. Putin like a greedy gambler about to overplay his hand...

The future of Chechnya determined not in Moscow, but by the visionary strategists of the Argun Gorge. Russia with not the moral courage to invade this sacred region. As a wise man once said --

You go down there Gen'ral, if you got the nerve...

Meanwhile the greatest fighter on the face of this earth, Shamil Basayev, with some two dozen hand picked fighters has disappeared North. Employing radio silence and strict communication discipline, this epic hero of all mankind makes his way toward Moscow for the final showdown with a cowardly Russian thug in a cheap suit and a bad haircut.

Dry is good and wind is better...

And as far as you are concerned the Chechens of al-Qaida are just innocent bystanders...

Why don't you go post on the DNC sites where your perfidity will be acclaimed, not exposed.

FR is for Americans, not terrorist sympathizers who support groups dedicated to the murder of innocent Americans - like the Chechens.

MOSCOW, September 24 (Itar-Tass) - A resident of Chechnya has been arrested in the city of Argun, Chechnya, during a special operation, on whom a scheme was found, that featured strikes at the buildings of the U.S. World Trade Centre by the planes, captured by terrorists, representatives of the public relations centre of the Federal Security Service (FSS) branch in Chechnya told Tass on Monday.

They specified that the word "jihad" was written on the back side of the scheme. Aside from it, ten army tents and ten sleeping bags were confiscated from the detainee. The operation was staged by officers of the FSS branch in Chechnya jointly with the provisional police service and the prosecutor`s office. rom/gor

Chechen warlord Turpal Movsayev, long on the federal list of wanted criminals, was seized by Interior Ministry troops in an operation based in the village Shali, report federal Interior Ministry PR. Turpal Movsayev heads a Special Board in Aslan Maskhadov's forces. He won notoriety in June 1995, when he was taking part in a terrorist attack on the South Russian town Budennovsk. The bandits seized the town maternity ward and took the patients hostage. More than 150 civilians were killed in the tragedy. During his arrest, Movsayev had on him a list of 18 prospective victims of terror acts--police and republican administration officers. Movsayev pleaded guilty and appears very cooperative.

Hope that Russian prison life appeals to him. One more down, a handful left to go.

Listen, the best way to deal with that little worm Fusion is to just ingore him. He has about as much knowledge of what is going on in reality as I do about what Zing Zamin had for breakfast. NONE. He is an Islamic weasel and when all is said and done, he'll get his comeuponce...either by the Justice of Man or the Judgement of God...either way, maybe even both. Just ignore him and he'll eventually fade into the background of stupidity.

"Scheme" is a very interesting English word. After it has been translated from the Russian tongue it can mean most anything. I am sure in thousands of American homes you can find drawings of the World Trade Centre (schematic) since the stunning 911 Islamic entente airborne assault on New York.

The word "jihad" -- are you sure? Unlikely this document (forged, planted, etc) was written in English. I imagine the base Arabic or Chechen word translated into Russian and then re-translated into English could mean just about anything.

Possession of sleeping bags and tents during one of the coldest Winters in recent memory in a city cut off by murderous Russian thugs is a crime? Careful you don't let too many American patriots in the Western US hear that -- they are much better armed than the innocent Chechen women and children gunned down each week by the unholy forces of the ex-KGB thug.

What do you know of Budyonnovsk? Mercilessly assaulted by Russian killers, the greatest fighter on the face of this earth -- Shamil Basayev-- retreated to the hospital to maintain unit cohesion. Do you think if US forces were caught in a similar firefight they would not hesitate to use any cover available?

If you don't think so review Somalia in 1993. Lot's of women and children killed there -- and as at Budyonnovsk -- the side with the heavier firepower killed most of the civilians. It happens in war.

The Russians fired on their own people because they were so desperate to finally get a shot at the veteran insurgent fighters. Mr D has interviewed many of the survivors of that fight. If you are truly interested read his account of the battle -- otherwise you are stuck with Moscow manipulated versions of this stunning Russian humiliation.

I don't agree with Marmema's views but I respect them. He/she makes valid arguments despite being supported by a pro-Russian thesis. On the other hand, your babbling makes the average American's substantial ignorance on this subject appear rather learned.

Chechens don't kill Americans. Yes, there are al Qaeda fighters battling with Khattab -- but there are no Chechen nationalists fighting with al Qaeda. Sure, there are plenty of propaganda claims to that effect -- but no substantive evidence to support such Russian lies.

Mr Khruschchev said, "We will bury you..."

Are you familiar with the old shoe banger by any chance? He taught JFK quite the lesson at Vienna in 1961 and the next year the world nearly saw nuclear war. Real friends of mankind those Russians.

Sandwiched around that October crisis, Russians killed Americans in Korea and a place called Vietnam. They flew jets as "advisors" and shot down American pilots. They directed SAM and triple A sites in the North and shot down American pilots.

When those American pilots that survived hitting the silk were picked up they were often interrogated by Russian "advisors." Many of these Americans in both Korea and Vietnam were sent on to the Soviet Union for "reeducation" -- never to be seen again.

Moscow has sent millions of tonnes of war supplies around the world to kill Americans. Chechens don't do that Jim. They like Americans because (among other things) the US sent them third generation Stinger missiles last year after the Houston real estate magnate's "secret" trip to Kosovo. Al Qaeda has provided them only older first generation Afghan campaign era Stingers.

When Russian choppers and lumbering transport planes are shot down, they are flamed with weapons directly supplied from the US. The Chechens under democratically elected president Aslan Maskhadov owe the US more than they can ever hope to repay -- no doubt they will be asked to defend the Northern approaches to the pipeline when this brutal war ends and Western reconstruction aid begins to flow.

Putin is a cheap Moscow hood. Do you know his career? Are you familiar with the sworn oath KGB officer's used to take when attaining the rank of Major? The midnight Kremlin ceremony where they vowed to destroy the United States and then intialled a document with their own blood to sanctify that pledge?

Now he is president of Russia with enough nuclear weapons to wipe out the greatest country on earth. He is president of Russia because he was considered the brightest and best of the KGB and the old apparat's optimal chance to destroy the West within a century of Lenin coming to power.

Fortunately for all mankind, Shamil Basayev is going to take down this threat to America. Putin just a rennaissance man wannabee with a cheap suit and a bad haircut. The dark monies funding Shamil Basayev's greatest coup an extremely cost effective investment the oil "bidness" understands much better than most Americans.

That includes you Jim. Been nice talking with you...

but no substantive evidence to support such Russian lies.

LOL!!

That should be American 'lies', British 'lies', Pakastani 'lies', etc - everyone lies except you?

There is no question that Chechens are an esssential part of al-Qaida and as such, bear a significant responsiblity for the deaths of 3,000 innocent Americans.

Your attempts to dissemble and confuse the issue are transparent and useless. Chechens are terrorists and should be treated as the vermin they are.

FR is for Americans, not terrorist sympathizers who support groups dedicated to the murder of innocent Americans - like the Chechens.

You are right their was a big change of direction towards the Chechuns and their cause. Russia was really dealing with the terrorist problems before 911 and are seen as an extension of Bin Ladin. A total change around of World opinion. Some groups are pissed at Bin Ladin because of giving so called freedom fighters a bad name.

You mean like those Chechnyan "freedom fighters" in Mazar-i-sharif? You mean like all those Chechnyan "freedom fighters" who were trained in Al Qaida training camps by your hero bin Laden?

You're going to find little sympathy here for animals like that.
