Well when I was in the service I was given a "new testament" also, but it was distributed by the Salvation Army and I understand the Gideons.

You can buy it at the civilian bible store, camoflauge(sp?) bibles are "in style."

The Bible I got was a paperback Old and New Testament, NIV. I don't recall if was a Gideon. You're right about it being donated.

Looks like this when the deed is done. Might be a good chore for John Taliban Walker. Make sure he stands downwind.

I got two Bibles for Christmas. One was barely small enough to fit into a BDU pocket, the other was normal size. The family may have been trying to send a message. I will look for one. Thanks. GRIN!

I hope I never draw that duty. Of course, I don't wind up in the brig/stockade very often (ever) either.

He may have been wearing a Marine uniform but the Corps doesn't have any chaplains. What was his rank? Corpsmen serving with Marine units come from the Navy Hospital Corps and Chaplains serving with Marine units come from the Navy Chaplain Corps.
You at Fallon?
To: SMEDLEYBUTLER
the Corps doesn't have any chaplains.I'll plead ignorance again. Tell me to go ask the local marine (we have one) if you want. Why do the Marines not have Chaplains? I understand about medics.

today MSNBC actually did a segment on what they ATE today. As the terrorists goals and MSNBC's goal coincide (i.e., the destruction of America), it's enlightened self-interest for MSNBC to know what they might be noshing on should Americans realize whose side MSNBC is really on.

Let Castro have them! Sure, and then the next thing you know he'll put 'em on boats and send 'em to Florida.

Shave their beards (already done at least), give em' pork rinds and bring on the mosquitos!

If he was Navy he was a Lieutenant. If he was Marine he was a Captain. I just called him Chaplain. He always wore cami's, even when giving a sermon on Sunday.
Yes, I'm in Fallon, assigned to the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center (home of Top Gun) and we have been very busy since 9/11. The Navy has really accelerated training since then.

Keep the beards shaved, hopefully the mosquitos are the malarial type.

This is unfair. I think the Government should issue us some comfort items as well.
