Way too many vanity threads lately. And way too much trash being posted. Please try to stay on topic (politics). Also, please do a search on a significant word from the title of your article before posting. This will reduce the number of duplicates. And, along these same lines, please use the original titles on your article posts. Do NOT edit the titles. Do NOT use "My Title" titles. This will also help to reduce the number of duplicates.
And, whatever else you do, please DO NOT post from DEMOCRATS UNDERGROUND (or any other such trashy un-American socialist hangout). Free Republic was intended to be a socialist free zone. We've gone to a heck of a lot of trouble to make it that way. Why in the world would you think we would be interested in having their trash posted here?
And QUIT trashing each other. You know who you are. Knock it off! Way too many flamewars and feuds going on. And, while I'm thinking about it, QUIT trashing our conservative candidates. If you want to criticize someone's position on some policy, have at it. But do not trash or smear the man. That would include Browne, Buchanan, Bush, Keyes, et al, or whomever else may be your favorite trashee (examples listed in alphabetical sequence). The idea is to get more conservatives elected, not to trash the ones you don't like. If you want to trash someone, make it a Democrat. Thank you.
And QUIT dredging up old communist propaganda to smear our conservatives. Sheesh! Whatever else you may think about our guys, they did not hijack airliners full of people and crash them into buildings. No, my friends, not even the dreaded CIA. Anyone who would believe (or even suspect) that crap is no FReeper. I've been pulling this crap whenever I see it and several people have been banned for continuing to post it. I do not want it on Free Republic. Any current FR poster who believes this leftist propaganda, please logoff immediately, send me your resignation via email, and I will delete your account.
Thanks,
Jim

We've gone to a heck of a lot of trouble to make it that way. Why in the world would you think we would be interested in having their trash posted here? Thank you. I am so sick of us giving them credibility by the constant "Look what they are saying on DU" threads.

Hey! Doesn't this post violate the rules outlined within this post??? (/sarcasm)
:o)

Thanks for re-posting this.
Seems like a lot of FReepers either missed this or don't understand what Jim is saying.

Did excessive vanities crash the system for two hours?

The vanity acceptance chip had to be recalibrated.

Just as long as we are still allowed to strongly criticize Bill and Hillary, I'll be happy.

do a search on a significant word from the title of your article before postingDon't you think that would happen a lot more if the Post Article page had the admonition (and, maybe the tools to do the search) in bold, red lettering at the top of the page?
To: Admin Moderator
I'm still trying to find where he addressed removing all humorous threads.
To: Admin Moderator
Thank you, sir. We were about to give up on this website with all the personal attacks and cursing. We can all disagree without being disagreeable, using profanity and or personally attacking each other.

Can I still post Monty Python's "Henry Kissinger" song under "Breaking News"? Because it is pretty good...

And QUIT trashing each other. You know who you are. Knock it off! Way too many flamewars and feuds going on.link 5. Sidetrack opponents with name calling and ridicule. This is also known as the primary attack the messenger ploy, though other methods qualify as variants of that approach. Associate opponents with unpopular titles such as "kooks", "right-wing", "liberal", "left-wing", "terrorists", "conspiracy buffs", "radicals", "militia", "racists", "religious fanatics", "sexual deviates", and so forth. This makes others shrink from support out of fear of gaining the same label, and you avoid dealing with issues.

Its probably covered under "Trash" posts.

Vanities are great. There have been some absolute beauties.
My favorite is "Help!! I can't access Drudge. What's going on?"
Superb. We ignore this wisdom at our peril.
To: Admin Moderator
No hablo ingles.
To: Rebelbase
So are we removing the "humor" section?
To: Sir Gawain
LOL!
To: Admin Moderator
"I don't know how to define 'off-topic,' but I'll know it when I see it."
There was a LOT of griping on the previous thread, and a lot of seemed to relate to what is defined by "off-topic," and what tortures should be visited upon those who would promote such things.
Good luck, kind Moderator...you'll need it. Leave the humorous stuff if you can: We need to vent some steam once in a while.
To: kellynla
What the [fudge]? We aren't allowed to post any more profanity? [Shoot]! Why the [heck] not? It's not like we're [freakin'] kids here. We should be able to post whatever kind of [shinola] we want.
To: Admin Moderator
Behold the power of the
Big Cheese.
Thanks Jim, for an important reminder.

Just as long as we are still allowed to strongly criticize Bill and Hillary, I'll be happy.I concur on that note. That should be a given.
But I agree; there are way too many duplicate posts.
To: Texaggie79
I don't know, but several posters here have definitely lost their humor, come to think of it several never had any to begin with.
To: Admin Moderator
I missed it the first time, but am I glad you posted it! I have been sick and tired of people telling us to go to RAT sites to read. This is great!
To: Sir Gawain
To: Admin Moderator
Let me add one thing:
I see alot of duplicate replies in the threads lately. Just so you all know...HIT THE POST BUTTON ONLY ONE TIME.

Humorous threads? Like that leisure suit that Redbloodedamerican has? The plaid one with the big butterfly collar???
To: francisandbeans
LOL!!

When did you quit being sirgawain and become Sir Gawain? Were you knighted by Ted Nugent?
To: francisandbeans
Peter Frampton.

I have always felt that issues were fair game, but some of the attacks are savage and lack basis in fact.
To: Sir Gawain
I do.
Feel like you do.
Please welcome Sir Francis & his pimp "Beans"

You might be suprised to know how many teenagers and younger are registered Freepers. Profanity is never necessary or desirable.
Of course I grew up in a society 180 degrees from todays where you NEVER heard profanity in mixed company.

I'm getting scared, two trips to the wood shed in one week and they/we/us /me /you/I still don't get it !?!?!?
JR will get really pissed IMHO and pull the plug on this great place if disruptors from within aren't careful. It's all about respect, disagree to disagree and move on......heck I even get along with Poohbah :o) ......so theres no reason anyone here can't get along with the exception of Illbay maybe.....somethings just aren't possible.

I hope this hasn't been mentioned on the other thread, but what about all these threads bashing Lincoln and supporting the CSA?
That seems to me a class of vanity we could easily do without.

That's all well and good, but can anyone point me to last nights thread about what/when/how members of the press new about Enron's failings and their liabilty for covering up said info..

So, is there any chance of these guidelines being applied CONSISTENTLY in the future? I didn't think so.

I did notice that on the original thread that there were FReepers complaining about daliy "chat" threads
like the Daily Dose, America the Right Way, The Guild, The USO Canteen etc.
Last I read Jim and John were going to add new chat forums,
not discourage people from having friendly discussions that include conservative view points.
Next thing you know some FReepers will be complaining about Radio Free Republic
because Hosts and Callers don't stay on topic 100%
