This is really disgusting, exploiting a tragedy. As bad, if not worse, than Jonathan Edwards.

I don't think anyone's exploiting a tragedy here. They're investigating anomalous phenomena that people have reported experiencing in the area of the crash site.

"This is really disgusting, exploiting a tragedy. As bad, if not worse, than Jonathan Edwards." I agree with you that either this is a case of exploitation, or the "rent-a-cops" were getting high.
However, what does Jonathan Edwards have to do with this? (I am assuming that you mean Jonathan Edwards, theologian and pastor, born in 1703.) Just how is he guilty of exploiting tragedy?
If you are referring to the 18th century preacher, possibly you aren't comfortable with the message of the Gospel, that all men are dead in trespasses and sins, and are deserving of death and hell, and that they need to be justified before God by the atoning work of Jesus Christ.

You're thinking of John Edward, as in "Crossing Over With". Jonathan Edwards was (as JerryM notes) a preacher.
