Here's what Creed has to say about being labeled as a "Christian band."

Is Creed a Christian band?

Are the members of Creed Christians?

OK, so they're not Christian--are they religious?

I've also heard that Marilyn Manson (sp?) is somewhat of a libertarian or economic conservative. Could have just been an urban legend, though.

If you guys can think of some good conservative movies put them here too. I started a thread but it got deleted. I don't know if I violated some forum policy or what.

I can add Neil Peart's thoughts on them here in this song co-written by him and he plays drums on this track by the Rheostatics.

This is the lyrics to (GUNS)

You take a gun and shoot an animal. Say like your neighbor or a squirrel. Safe to say that at any one time both can be spotted in the locale and struck down with ease. You can rest easy in knowing that the pencil rains will lodge in the target you shot at, and maybe even in some stuff you didn't shoot at.

Neat.
Stupid.
Disgusting.
You can take this recipe to the bank and put it in a long-term deposit, because the results are always guaranteed:

1. Some goof produces said weapon from a factory.
2. Some goof owns a store that peddles death.
3. Some goof buys the power toy.
4. Said last goof gets a novel idea.
5. Someone, not necessarily a goof, dies.
Guns.

As somebody who is new here. CAn somebody let me know why my other thread got deleted?

A month or two ago the owner of this website started a thread titled something like "A Vanity on Vanities" and your thread is a Vanity.

The users of Free Republic were told/reminded that this was a Conservative News Forum and that Vanity Posts were getting out of control and that posts should link to a published news article or published Editorial or Opinion piece.

At that time we were seeing a lot of users starting threads with titles like: What's the Best Rock Group of the 70's, or What's the best Drink, or What was The Best Baseball movie, or What was the best somg of the 80's, etc. These may well be interesting topics to many but they have little to do with Conservative news.

Your posts may seem to the moderators to be what we we asked not to post on FR, and that may be why the other thread was deleted....it's a "Conservative NEWS Forum"....remember?

If you are going to start general interest vanity Posts (and we are asked to keep Vanity Posts to an absolute minimum) they at least should be in the General Interest section and not the News/Activism section of FR. I like music and have a few hundred CD's and over 3000 LP's but there are music discussion sites on the net if I want to discuss music. I like old cars and skiing and I go to other sites that deal with those subjects to discuss items related to those subjects. I come to FR to read conservative oriented news and participate in a discussion of that news and related topics.

"Let he who hath no sword sell his cloak and buy one."
----- Jesus, Luke 22:36.

"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield
the people from the political, economic and/or military
consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the
State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is
the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth
becomes the greatest enemy of the State."
-------------- Dr. Joseph M. Goebbels
(Kinda sounds like our political system since the days of Lincoln)

"Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice.
And... moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.''
-- Barry Goldwater, Acceptance Speech at the Republican Convention; 1964
(I dont care much for the man, he turned out to be a judas goat for the elite,
but this quote is RIGHT ON THE MONEY!!!!)

RIGHT TO HAPPINESS, FREEDOM, PROPERTY
Kings or parliaments could not give the rights essential to happiness
.. . . We claim them from a higher source--from the King of kings, and
Lord of all the earth. They are not annexed to us by parchments and
seals. They are created in us by the decrees of Providence . . . It
would be an insult on the divine Majesty to say, that he has given or
allowed any man or body of men a right to make me miserable. If no man
or body of men has such a right, I have a right to be happy. If there
can be no happiness without freedom, I have a right to be free. If I
cannot enjoy freedom without security of property, I have a right to
be thus secured. (Emphasis per original.)

It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves."

I'm having trouble hearing this as a remotely good song. Like singing a recipe for the most boring food ever, with anti-gun sentiment thrown in. Thanks.

Conservative Rock Groups?

Conservative Rock Groups?

"You say you want a counter-revolution,
Well, you know we all want to change the world..."

Let me recommend that you acquaint yourself with Rock Around the Clock and other cinematic treasures starring Bill Haley and the Comets, square! In the meantime, here's one conservative rocker group: the Lawrence Welk Orchestra.

Here we go: Ah won, ah too, ah tree!

Prince (Rogers Nelson)and his lead guitarist for many years are strong believers in the capitalist system and religious despite some of the lyrics. Great musicians.

Here's several examples:

Ted Nugent (of course)

guitarist Kerry King from the thrash metal band Slayer

Rush

Agnostic Front - they're a legendary NYC hardcore/punk band with some conservative views; their anti-welfare song "Public Assistance" caused a lot of controversy back in the late 80's

Stuck Mojo - a conservative/libertarian-leaning rap metal band with anti-Clinton views

S.O.D. - Billy Milano's crossover hardcore/metal side project. They were pretty good and quite funny, although they did get a bit too offensive and too far to the right for my taste. Granted, it was part of their tounge-in-cheek politically incorrect routine, but songs like "Speak English Or Die" kind of take things too far.

Carnivore - ditto

Pantera (or at least Phil Anselmo is, although he seems more libertarian than conservative)

ZAO

Queensrÿche

With the exception of an anti-Reagan song ("Bonzo Goes To Bitburg), the punk rock band The Ramones were pretty pro-American and anti-communist. In fact, Johnny Ramone is an admitted lifelong Republican.

A lot of "oi" bands are conservative-leaning as well.

I see where I made my mistake. I never noticed there was two sections to the forums. One for General Interest and one for News/Activism. Mods can move or delete this thread if they want. I didn't mean to post in the wrong section.

The Rolling Stones. I've always felt that "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" was realy about being for limited, constitutional government in modern America. "Get Off of My Cloud" was definitely a rousing fight song against the entire cliton reign of error. "She's So Cold" was surely about beast hitlery. And who can forget sitting around during the ballot count, recount, and count again singing "Time is on My Side, Oh Yes It Is"?

It is read out in a narrative form at first then screamed later in the song. Awesome drumming...but the song just blows from its message.

Thanks for the reply and the info. One question, I thought I posted this under Misc?

You did post it in Micellaneous, but in Misc section of the News/Activism forum.

FR now has two separate forums: News/Activism, and General Interest. When you get to the Main FR forum webpage, click on General Interest in the top right box, and it will take you to what some are calling FR Lite....the place for things of interest that don't necessarily have much to do with Conservative News.....that's most probably where this thread should have been posted.
