A Mitt in the hand, is worth two in the Bush.

"Cites Family Reasons"

That's true, you know.

She couldn't find anyone in her own family who would vote for her.

Oh Kevin, Thou shalt not bear false witness!

It amazes me that you put faith in a few words about Romney from a rather unfair slander piece about Rush Limbaugh. Read the whole article, there are dozens of inacurracies in it. I hope you are not surprised that they stretch the truth about Romney.

Romney, a leader in the Mormon Church, disavowed his Church's teachings regarding abortion

Romney disclosed that he became committed to legalized abortion after a relative died during an illegal abortion. The disclosure came after Romney, who said he is personally opposed to abortion, was asked to reconcile his beliefs with his political support for abortion rights. "It is since that time that my family will not force our beliefs on that matter," He said the abortion made him see "that regardless of one's beliefs about choice, you would hope it would be safe and legal."

[and] . . . endorsed the integration of homosexuals into the [Boy Scouts]

"I support the right of the Boy Scouts of America to decide what it wants to do on that issue. I feel that all people should be allowed to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation."

Source: Peter Gosselin in Boston Globe Oct 27, 1994

So we see your post that you have pasted on every Romney thread has just a few problems. Basically, it is WRONG!

Oh BTW, his statement that, "all people should be allowed to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation" is in fact a policy that the Boy Scouts of America also supports! The Scouts have a don't ask, don't tell policy. They do not have a homosexual witch hunt, they demand the highest honorable conduct from all in the Scouting program. The Boy Scouts have a policy against the behaviors and lifestyles of homosexuals. If you can separate behavior from sexual orientation, you are not removed from Scouting.

Billybob, It looks like Republicans have very good chances in the 4 largest states; Simon in CA, Perry in Texas, Bush in Florida, and Pataki in NY. With Romney in Mass, and O'Malley in Ill are we looking for a sweep of the top 10 in Population?

Romney and George Pataki are RINOs. I see no reason to celebrate their wins in those states.

How can you maintain a RINO would advance conservatism? Wouldn't a Gov. Mitt Romney simply appoint a RINO to replace Ted Kennedy in the Senate? We all know a RINO's worse than a Rat and if a Romney appointee votes with the Rats in the Senate, I don't see what great improvement that would be over a real Rat from the Bay State.

Romney could just as well have taken the Geraldine Ferraro stance on abortion:

"I would never have an abortion myself--I'm Catholic (in his case, Mormon), but who am I to judge anyone else?"

No, it is more than that. I would do all that I can to educate, pursuade, encourage, and communicate that abortion is wrong. I would offer all the help that I can. But after all that I have done, if the woman still wants an abortion I would hope that the needed support was there.

Actually, it is more like the Bush strategy that we need to establish a "culture of life" in America. Respect for the woman and respect for the unborn child. Abortion should be the last choice, and care for the woman should not be neglected.
