Some people are just so forgiving right? I find it hard to believe that she didn't know his background. If he did become a true Christian, that is wonderful...and only God knows the truthfulness of his life and salvation. I also know to be cautious...and for such a person to actually be given the power to be a SPIRITUAL leader for the "flock"..is disturbing to me for too many reasons to count and list here. I know that there are ministries where former criminals are honest and do convert, or bring the message of truth out. People convert all the time..that's what becoming a child of God is. Maybe the congregation is just like him...?? Similar backgrounds? Like AA meetings? Hang out with only those who "understand". Regardless, it IS strange to see that church sponsor it.. Maybe it's their way to pay back to the community for their sins of the past. Better pluck the thorns out of our eyes first..

Sometimes Americans will take a greater shine to an obivious charlatan than to an honest repentant. If fact -- make that nearly all the time.
The obvious deception doesn't tax the cranial center of judgement so much. You know he's a fake, he knows you know he's a fake -- it actually passes for honesty.
It's still a fake.
