An old high school friend and I were talking about this over the weekend. The winter of 1975-76 was bitterly cold in the northeast. We lived in NJ and remeber vividly seeing the Delawaare completely frozen over, supposedly the first time in 200 year...also walked on the frozen surf at Sea Isle City in NJ...and all the talk those days was about the coming Ice Age...now of course we have a mild winter and the threat is global warming.

The tird world scam artists and America-haters realized all of a sudden that the opportunities for bribes, kickbacks and payoffs as well as weakening America were far better going with the attack on warming rather than the attack on cooling. Back up campaigns include attacking America and/or seeking bribes etc. because it is getting much lighter during the day time and attacking America and/or seeking bribes etc. because it is getting much darker during the night time. Changes in gravity are also on the list. Future meetings in Japan will probably result in protocols or treaties covering reductions but may be postponed 'til Gore or Clinton is elected President (if you know what we mean).

One interesting thing this article does not mention is that these 'scientists' asserted the causes of the cooling are the same causes that are now supposedly causing the warming.

It's all about money. Create a crisis and write a grant request and hopefully reach tenure before anyone discovers you're really just an idiot.

Effects of Climate Warming Already in Evidence

The global temperature cooled off from the 1930s through the 1970s. Archaic climate models in the 1970s overstimated the effects of sulfate aerosols and also didn't figure in as much reduction in sulfate aerosol emissions as occurred (largely to alleviate acid rain problems). So since 1975 we've warmed up quite a bit. Except for the unlikely specter of a shutdown of North Atlantic deep water formation (which would result in a strong hemispheric cooling most drastic in Europe and eastern North America), there aren't any climatologists predicting a significant cooling trend or Ice Age now.

It's interesting to read the history, though. I remember that too.
