Train accidents happen all the time. It's the News Nazis that decide if you'll hear about it.

A radio host here in CA said today "President Bush is having a better week this week, at least the train derailments are happening on time".

I saw a fender-bender in the Wal-Mart parking lot this afternoon.
Young kid backed out of his parking spot without looking where he was going and smacked into a shopping cart.

We must regulate trains. There are too many train wrecks. We must do this for the children. </ idiocy>

We had a private plane crash into a fence near a building in Louisville today. They said it was an accident.
To: Fred Mertz
They said it was an accident.Probably. But one can never be sure about those Wal-Mart shopping carts.
I think they place them in hazardous locations on purpose to drum up sales for their new used car business.
To: Willie Green
Used car business?
To: LurkerNoMore!
Yep!
Hot off the press today: Wal-Mart Test Drives Used Car Business
Apparently there's a good market for used cars developing in Houston.
They can't get new ones outa Detroit because the trains keep jumping the tracks.
To: Willie Green
Whoa. You were serious!
I wonder how many of those used cars were partially under water when Houston was flooding.

"President Bush is having a better week this week, at least the train derailments are happening on time". I read somewhere that under Moussilini, the trains weren't any more punctual than under any other leader; what was different was that the press never made any mention of them ever being late.

I read several years ago that the unions cut such a deal with Amtrak that it could never be a money making endeavor. There has been some talk of shutting it down because of the money it loses. Part of the union contract, as I read it, said that any union member laid off would receive 6 years salary as severence pay. Could that have anything to do with all these accidents, trying to force a shutdown and layoffs and a 6 year lumpsum settlement?
