Hopefully the Supreme Court will set a precedent that will spread CCW across the nation.

Attorneys for the state, county and city argue that the right to bear arms does not prevent the state from regulating how citizens may carry guns. Does ths go for the right to free speech as well?
They say weapons pose a threat to police officers and others.
Then why do the cops carry them?

So long as Americans can be convinced that they need to apply for a privilege to exercise a right they can expect to be denied their rights.Boonie Rat

"...and Gov. Bob Taft says he wants law-enforcement endorsement before signing such a measure."C'ya, Gov.
You're a gutless-wonder politician looking for a fall guy; but, a leader you're not.
Ohioans?
Looks like the ball's in your court.
Those who've opposed this measure have come out into the open & identified themselves; & done so in no uncertain terms.
~Out with 'em.

Wait a minute here, "right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."---Hmmm. "free men don't ask permission to bear arms".--My point here is that all Federal laws, state laws, county laws, city laws prohibiting the carrying of concealed weapons are unconstitutional and therefore illegal. I live in a state that forbids CCW, but I carry anyway. I'd rather be arrested for violating a gun law than be outlined in chalk. get yourself a good holster that hides the gun well, and exercise your CONSTITUTIONAL right.

Maybe the time has come for New York politicians to start public debate this issue, too, ehh? ;-)
Thanks for the bump.

"free men don't ask permission to bear arms". Most Americans stopped being "Free men" a long time ago.
Most sheeple are now nothing more than slaves to an illegal and illegitimate government.

RE: Post #11
Free men stopped being free sometime around the the Presidency of Abe Lincoln.

Gov. Bob Taft says he wants law-enforcement endorsement before signing such a measure. What a spineless evasion. If he finds such an endorsement worth having for some reason, he need only pick up the phone and say, "This is your boss speaking. Get your donut-padded butt down to the nearest TV station and endorse this."

SINCE WHEN SHOULD LAW ENFORCEMENT HAVE ANY SAY IN THE MATTER AT ALL?OUR RIGHTS SHOULD NEVER HINGE ON WHAT SOMEBODY ELSE WANTS!

but I carry anyway. I'd rather be arrested for violating a gun law than be outlined in chalkExactly. My state- Georgia- has had permutations of open/concealed carry... back when I ran businesses & carried both payrolls & deposits I always wore a sidearm, and tried to comply with the law if possible.
But I always went armed.
$15 for a rock of crack is the local "price of a life," so you can bet the hundreds or thousands I carried was even more attractive.
My bottom line was this- the worst the police would do was arrest me, the worst a robber would do is kill me- no contest.
