WASHINGTON - An unusual coalition of lawmakers is pressing President Bush to increase global spending on AIDS by hundreds of millions of dollars this year alone.
The Bush administration has budgeted $780 million for the global AIDS fight this year. Thursday, however, Republicans in the House Appropriations Committee voted to add $200 million in global AIDS money to an emergency measure for homeland security and military spending. The White House had not asked for the money.

Though AIDS is a serious issue, the generic fundamental causes are well kow...and easily avoided! So what does this funding really do that can;t be done by agencies already in place both in our "system" and abroad?
I'd sincerely liie to see this congress start looking at American problems and cease from trying to save the globe from issues that could and should be addressed by the agencies in other countries!
Got himself in a bit of hot water over that...
I am sick to death of hearing about the AIDS crisis and how many millions of US dollars should be spent in foreign countries, while our Vets and millions of other Americans have limited access to healthcare.
