DALLAS -- Texas authorities are on alert for a stolen tractor-trailer hauling a hundred drums of cyanide.
The FBI has confirmed that Texas lawmen have been warned to be on alert for a truck carrying cyanide that was hijacked in Mexico.
Police Alert For Cyanide Truck
Three gunmen are responsible for the hijacking, according to the FBI, which happened Sunday just north of Mexico City along highway 85.
Texas state troopers don't know whether the hijackers will attempt to drive across the border into Texas, but they are on high alert.
Texas officials are also asking everyone to keep an eye out for the truck.
Here's a description of the truck:
White 2002 Kenworth Tractor Trailer
Mexico license plate number 980CZ6.

I'm a little curious about that myself. I'm guessing blond and blue-eyed or red-headed and freckled.

Getting into the U.S. will present no problem! If they get caught, maybe they can sue for not being provided with water.

I'm sure these people are going to drive a truck into the US that a full description and license plate number is already on the news wires.
Odds are this cargo was transfered to another vehicle within a half hour of it being hijacked.

I believe cyanide is used in the illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine. This could be related to that.

Why are these Mexican truckers driving a 2002 model. I thought they had only old clunkers?
To: DKM
I guess this goes for Cyanide too..
To: whadizit
Dad said he heard this earlier in the day, and that it happened over the weekend. Nice of them to get the description out to everyone so we can watch for it. Especially since those guys in Italy that were caught with cyanide and plans to the water system around the American embassy in Rome had links to Al Queda and people in Phoenix, AZ

"Odds are this cargo was transfered to another vehicle within a half hour of it being hijacked" look for a 1993 toyota p.u., with 32 illegals in it; n pulling a "large trailer"...

We better hope they don't get a flat, they might sue us for a new set of tires.
To: Luis Gonzalez
This is one of the reasons why we must have better control over who crosses our border.

Was this in the NAFTA Zone, they would probably be exempt under international law..

"We better hope they don't get a flat, they might sue us for a new set of tires."Or force us to repave all of our roads. Is that lawsuit related to not having watering facilities provided in the desert to facilitate the illegal immigrants, which I'm sure you are relating to, about the most assinine misuse of our court system?

To: TheLurkerX
Do you have anymore information or links to this story involving Italy, Al-Queda and people in Phoenix?
To: DKM
They will have to have a guard at every watering station to make sure no one spikes it with Spirit of Apicack (sp)? What is insane is that the court will rule in their favor and we will pay it.
No one is looking out for the American citizen. Certainly not many of our politicans, they look at us as a source of unlimited wealth to be bled, with an unlimited supply of compassion to taken advantage of.

To: codebreaker
"Was this in the NAFTA Zone, they would probably be exempt under international law.. " well, of course!!! n if they were smart, they'd enter into california;
food, water, hospital, lawyers, n reparations would be provided for them...

Cyanide is NOT used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Another form of cyanide - cyanogen bromide - IS used to manufacture 4-methylaminorex, or Ice. Not even the largest drug cartels in Mexico would have need for 100 drums of standard cyanide.
If this is indeed the work of al Queda or another similar group, authorities should be on the lookout for thefts of large amounts of acid - either hydrochloric or sulfuric. (Zyklon B or hydrogen cyanide)

LOL, yup.

At the time, alone it was worthless as it was.
Please correct me if I'm remembering wrong, but I think it was in D.C? I remember the discussion about tunnels.
To: concerned about politics
PS....
What ever happened to that white van the police were chasing?
It was at Holloween, and there were threats about a mall hit. The van was discovered in a mall parking lot by a guard, but it got away.
To: concerned about politics
PS again....It was a white Rider van.

Not even the largest drug cartels in Mexico would have need for 100 drums of standard cyanide I could hardly imagine, though, a scene like this: "Excuse us senors, we only want one of those drums for our dope operation, you can go on your way with the rest now."
To: skr
I would be inclined to shakedown all old caucasian ladies and young children who might be driving a vehicle of that description too.
Well its 12:15 and I still haven't seen it.
Must keep looking.
To: hoot2
Reparations for the 'mental distress' to the carjackers caused by this report!
To: DKM
Well, they're not going to find that truck and if they do the cyanide will be gone. I'd be looking along the Gulf of Mexico for it. If it was terrorists, they'll realize they won't get it across the border. They'll download it to something less conspicous and drive it to the coast. They could enter at Florida, or anywhere along the East Coast. Hell, they could float it right up to New York City on a barge or something.
If they hooked up with South American drug lords, they'd have a lot of resources at their disposal. I'm thinking the IRA recently got busted training people in Columbia and they've been rumoured to have been training the Palestinians as well. Terror contacts are terror contacts. The IRA could hook al Qaeda up with the drug guys- who have expertise in smuggling things into our coastal areas. This situation has a lot of bad potential to it.
I would think that when bin Laden hits us again, he wants it to be HUGE. On a scale of 9/11 at the very least. He'll be wanting to send a message to the entire Muslim world. How much coverage could you get out of a truck load of cyanide? Anybody know? A whole city? How would it have to be deployed? In the air, water- what?
To: Rusty Jones
I didn't mean to imply that we should only look for such, but I thought it peculiar that a description of masks or clothing or language wasn't included and was feeling a tad sarcastic. However, the truck was hijacked in Mexico, so the odds would seem to be on less than pale-skinned individuals. I'll admit I'm just guessing, but I'm taking the location into consideration, not just the truck and its deadly contents. Bandits who don't know what they have or terrorists who do? How often do chemical trucks get stolen by a non-terrorist thief?

Good point.

No windows, I'm on a Mac.
To: DKM
If they disguised it to look like marijuana or cocaine, it's probably already over the border hours ago.
