The latest bilge flowing from California has to do with the terrible indignity suffered by American Indians at the hands of American highschools. Namely, the schools mascots like Redskins, Chiefs, Braves, etc.
The actual bilge is emanating directly from the legislature in the form of a bill that would outlaw such horrible practices and force hundreds of highschools to pick new mascots that do not offend the indians. Names such as the Napa Valley Ninnies and Bakersfield Bedwetters would probably pass the politically correct muster.
This bill has been passed out of whatever mindless committee it was assigned to and will be voted on on the floor of the house soon. We can hardly wait.
But first, some rational thoughts.
Who is it exactly who is pressing to have this ludicrous action taken? It appears that it is not the indian tribes or organization associated directly with them. Surveys subsequent to this flap indicate that the vast majority of indians favor retaining such names. After all, they were chosen not to ridicule indians. On the contrary, the names were chosen to attach a kind of honor, bravery and pride to the teams by their use.
Is there a problem here?
There seems to be a very small minority who are complaining and are using the minority card to stifle criticism. As a result, a great deal of power will be conferred on a very few.
There will be unintended consequences as a result and they will be the exact opposite of the desired result.
Instead of keeping the names and folklore in front of the American people via the mascots, they will be assigned the same fearful status as racial slurs. No one will want to use the terms like chief, squaw, papoose, or scout. Speaking of which, as a boy scout, I learned almost everything I knew about the American Indian. Indian culture is an essential part of scouting an is manifested by scout institutions like Order of the Arrow and Webelos. Do we want to forget these?
By controlling language we control culture. If these indians terms and words are eradicated from our lives, what will induce us to remember what they stood for?
The answer is nothing. The American Indian culture -- what little there is left of it -- will fade from America like a dying campfire.
This Is Jet-Eye,
Over and Out, Kemosabe.
uh oh.
Our state budget is going to be about 80 billion in the hole when all is done. Our leftwing maggots in the legislature are screwing around with this, instead whacking expenses and try to do something right!
Understand that Utah is having the same problem.
These are the same guys who demanded the Japanese-Americans be rounded up. They then stole their property.
What will they do to the Indians?
It is time for "W" to declare that there is no "republican form of government" in California and send in the military to retake the territory from the fascists.
Absolutely true. The current PC/DNC party line will reduce American Indian culture to gambling and cigarette sales. Thanks guys.
They do have too much time on their hands to figure out ways to spend our money. Changing the mascot/name of a major high school is very expensive in a state where we going bankrupt.
Fascist Davis and his tax and spend maggots in our legislature are breaking our state. We are somewhere between 23 to ?? billion in debt. The state is in a major recession, tax revenues are way down, and the socialists are spending faster than ever to buy votes and to pay for the dark side life styles.
There will have to be massive budget cuts in education. This is just typical left wing maggots using a PC diversion that they will whip the flames on to make it a hot one. Then, they will whack the school budgets in the night with a sharp knife. Their pressitutes will focus on this terrible crime to call a team the Napa Indians, and the rat sheeple will forget about reality.
Of course this gives jobs to those whose only way to make a living is to push PC BS.
It is a nationwide thing. Remember Jake Reno was more interested in this PC Bravo Sierra than tracking down terrorists during her/its reign.
