I'm going to post an article (and will link to this thread). I think that Vincent Gallo is the subject of some "useful idiots"/Hollywood Left backlash.

Vincent Gallo has denied a report by lefty Roger Ebert that he apologized to the critics and audiences at his new movie in Cannes.

I even searched a few weeks ago (before any of this broke) for ANY pro or anti war statements from Vincent Gallo and found none. In interviews he will get into politics ocassionally. He claims to be a conservative; I believe him because Johnny Ramone a "fellow New Yorker" has known him a long time and lists him among his 10 favorite conservatives (Johnny is also a lifelong conservative). I even registered on his website at that time and didn't see any political diatribes.

I think that the left is looking for a whipping boy to kick around (and he hasn't even stirred up the dust to give them an opening).

Hollywood's BLACKLIST of conservatives continues. They're dragging his name in the mud.

My opinion: You gotta respect someone who idolizes Chris Squire of Yes. Especially to create that extended trailer to Buffalo 66 with the music from "Heart of the Sunrise" from the Fragile album (in the movie, its also being played in the scene at the strip club at the end).

Here's the thread about the Cannes bashing he received:

Gallo: I never apologised for Brown Bunny (Conservative filmmaker facing leftist backlash?)

Now I see the day 2002 (I was wondering about that June 4 but know that some publications lead the date).

I still think that he may get some backlash because of his politics.

Whether Shannen Doherty was rude in private or not, she was finally ousted from the Hollywood elite after she spoke on behalf of young adults at the GOP presidential convention in 1992.

don't even think of bashing norwood for missing the kick

Wouldn't do that. Did Norwood ever get another kicking job? I don't remember ever hearing his name again. And that's really unfair, because he wasn't a bad kicker at all. He managed to help get the Bills to the big show that year - too bad the rest of the team didn't perform as consistently as Norwood....

Weegee! Yer pinging me to an old forgotten thread here mate!

Yeah I know Gallo's all in the news lately, but, um, the new movie The Brown Bunny sounded interested except........for the extremely graphic bit.

The whole fight with Ebert is great though.

Yeah, I noticed after a few posts that this was an old thread (that I had already been to). I had done a FR search for threads for the name Gallo (sorted by date) so I wouldn't post a duplicate article. I thought at the time that it was current.

awww come on. Udo is cool. he is content to be a B-movie actor, ham it up and make that his mark. He doesn't try to be anything he isn't. (not that gallo does)

Gallo update!!!

Page Six

June 4, 2003 -- BILE-spewing filmmaker Vincent Gallo is still throwing bombs at famed movie critic Roger Ebert. PAGE SIX readers will recall that Gallo called Ebert a "fat pig" and put a curse on his colon after the reviewer wrote about his critically lambasted "Brown Bunny," and Ebert responded by telling us he's lost 30 pounds — and suggested Gallo gain 30 IQ points. Yesterday, the "Buffalo 66" actor/director called us to deliver this pleasant message: "You tell that hamhock Roger Ebert he could lose 30 pounds a day for the next four years and still be fat. As for the curse on his colon, what I actually said was that I put an unremovable black magic curse on his prostate, which will enlarge into a large cancerous ball by the fall. . . . I want to challenge that fat cow to an IQ test. I bet him $1 million dollars to take a public IQ test against me. By the way, tell him I also put a curse on [Gene] Siskel [Ebert's partner on TV's "Siskel and Ebert," who died of complications from a brain tumor in 1999]." When told of Gallo's latest outburst, Ebert replied: "I wish Mr. Gallo a speedy recovery."

Roger Ebert's married to a former escort who now works as a lawyer. He's only written X rated movies. He should reconsider his glass house before he throws any more stones.

Does Gallo know she was a hooker? OMG, we should write him and tell him this. Can you imagine what he'd say? LOL!

Did Norwood ever get another kicking job?

no, he did not. here is a very good story on him and his life post-kick.

fyi, i'm not a bills fan, per se. i just always thought blaming norwood for the loss, while understandable, was unfair.

That picture looks like one of those pictures they show of Civil War soldiers like on Ken Burns' series.

Thanks for the link to the article about Norwood. I always thought he got a bum rap, and glad he's been able to make peace with himself, have a successful second career, and live a normal life. He's really lucky in that aspect - a lot of former jocks do not ever live a normal life.

HOLY CRAP!!!

So I’m sitting here with my girlfriend, we just finished watching The Brown Bunny and we were looking up some stuff about Vincent Gallo on IMDB.

I have known about Gallo since my friend introduced me to Buffalo ‘66 years back but I always assumed a guy like Vincent Gallo would be a total lib.

I loved Buffallo 66 and I always introduce it to new girlfriends...almost as a rite of passage...just like I give every new girlfriend a copy of The Unbearable Lightness of Being.

Anyways. So after seeing my 2nd (real) Gallo movie I was randomly searching for more things Gallo had done and ran across this article... I never thought I would see Vincent Gallo ever mentioned on Free Republic..and to find out he is a RIGHT WINGER!?!?

Weird... weird weird...but awesome. I’m so happy that I know this now.

woot woot
