Supposedly Alan Keyes is moving to 11 pm, but note this press release doesn't mention him at all, even though 11 pm Eastern is smack-dab in the middle of prime time out West.

Adding Donohue to provide "fiercely independent" news analysis?? Apparently, "fiercely independent" means conventionally liberal. So MSNBC's game plan for survival is to be a "me too" liberal network beside CNN. Brilliant. Roger Ailes must be loving this.

Actually that isn't true. Having lived in CA, almost all the programs come on a delayed basis so that a program that is on MSNBC at 7:00 est or 6:00 cst is on in CA at 7:00 pst or 6:00 mst. Only events carried live like sporting events that are on at 9:00 est, 8:00 cst, are carried on west coast stations at 6:00 pst and in Mountain at 7:00 mst. I hope I made sense!

No, the main networks, and *some* cable channels, have both "east coast" and "west coast" feeds like you describe. But the cable news channels don't. That's why they run everything twice per night. For example, "The O'Reilly Factor" airs live at 8pm Eastern, which is 5pm Pacific. But then Fox runs the tape again at 11pm Eastern, which is 8pm Pacific. You get the illusion of having all your prime time news "live", but in reality it's all three hours old. (Unless there's massive breaking news of course.)

Yep, MSNBC must have a death wish. The soccer moms who watched Donohue's daytime show aren't exactly the high demographic for evening news shows.

Nope, not true for cable news channels. For example Ashley Banfield is on at 9:00 pm Eastern and shows here in CA at 6:00pm. Of course a lot of them are rerun again at 10:00, 11:00 midnight and 1:00 am.

Apparently MSNBC is merely considering "moving Alan to the afternoons." Which means he might be cancelled altogether.

Fiercely independent or fiercely Democratic? YOU MAKE THE CALL!

Thanks -- so cable shows aren't delayed -- really dumb if you ask me! So you all get Brit Hume really early? Ditto's O'Reilly! Amazing!

"Fiercely independent" is the current liberal code phrase for "voted for Nader".

""Fiercely independent" is the current liberal code phrase for "voted for Nader"." LOL! Well, then, maybe Donohue on MSNBC is a good thing. I wouldn't mind at least 5% of the Dim vote at the next election diverting to Nader!

jerry nachman is OK. he really is independent but things go downhill with donohue and banfield. big, mega yawn. banfield has had her head so far up the derrieres of arafart and his lackeys, it's come out of their nasal cavities.

“On July 15, MSNBC will have unique programs, exclusive to MSNBC, with smart, independent anchors - Phil Donahue, Ashleigh Banfield, Chris Matthews, and Jerry Nachman - in primetime..."

"Smart, independent anchors Phil Donahue, Ashleigh Banfield and Chris Matthews".... Are these people CRAZY????

Given the choice between these three "personalities" and eating dirt....I'll choose the dirt.

Ba-bye MSNBC.

Jerry Nachman is an blubbering idiot. Banfield is the most ignorant reporterette on TV. An NO ONE will be watching Donahue after the initial curiosity wears off. Keyes is the best thing that lowly channel's got, and he is demoted and not even mentioned in the above piece. Pathetic.

Yep. He's on at 3:00 pm, and rerun at 9:00 pm. It's not too dumb. Actually, I enjoy it. If I have to be out at 3, then I know I can catch the rerun at 9 so I never miss it. The thing that's dumb is the Academy Awards starting at 6, or the tape delayed Miss America Pageant (we already know who won...sheesh).

How about fiercely LEFTIST/Socialist. I wouldn't be so kind as to call Donahue a Demoncrat.
