Yoffie rejected Lewin's reference to Amalek as a possible justification for killing innocents. He argued that for nearly 2,000 years talmudic sages and other rabbinic commentators have argued that the lessons of Amalek could not be applied to contemporary times. In an article that appeared in the Sh'ma journal alongside Lewin's essay, Brandeis University Jewish studies professor Arthur Green wrote, "I only wonder how long it will take [Lewin], by the force of this proof-text, to go all the way and suggest that the Palestinian nation as a whole has earned the fate of Amalek."

Dershowitz and Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, rejected the notion that Lewin should be elbowed out of communal life. They argued that his proposal represented a legitimate attempt to forge a policy for stopping terrorism. Foxman declined to take a stand on the actual proposal, citing his policy of deferring to Jerusalem on Israeli security issues.

Isn't this why King Saul had failed G-d,because he failed to kill every living Amalekite being? Can we continue Old Testament policies in New Testament times? This is what needs to be addressed because a concubine or two would be refreshing.

Considering most Palestinians supports homocide bombings of Israeli women, babies, old people, whatever, one Jewish person saying the same, except at least sparing the families if they renounce terrorism, is really no big deal.

Harsh, but I wholeheartedly agree. The suicide bombing has got to be stopped. If they are allowed to have whatever they are demanding under threat of suicide bombings, you will see such incidents here and who knows where else.

After the Black September killings of Israeli athletes in Munich back in the early 70's, Isreali Prime Minister Golda Mier (sp) ordered the Israeli security forces to kill the families of the assassins.

They did. The assassinations stopped for some time.

The families of the homicide bombers aren't innocent; they accept blood money for their so-called martyrs after the bombings. In essence, a family member dies, the family gets glory, and lots of money from the Arabs.

I see nothing wrong with blowing away a supporting family that has been rewarded for a family member who has blown away innocent Israelis or other enemy of Islam.

I think it's nuts. I have a cousin who sold drugs to kids, and who regularly tries to steal property whenever even a remote family member dies. God knows what else he's involved in. I do NOT want to be responsible for his actions.

Dershowitz argued that the same level of deterrence could be achieved by leveling the villages of suicide bombers after the residents had been given a chance to evacuate

Works for me. As long as the muslims are evacuated out of Israel. This would be a good way to depopulate the nation of muslims!

He's also not giving you a cut of the stolen property. The families of homicide bombers are not passive observers! They are collecting payments from Iraq and other Arab governments. As far as I am concerned, families that accept remuneration for the act by a family member of committing a suicide bombing, are in fact guilty of conspiracy to commit murder, accessory to murder, and even murder itself.

The US Constitution specifically forbids "the corruption of blood" which is what this proposal is called. You say this mouthpiece is a "top lawyer". In what country?

We need to do whatever it takes to stop Arab freaks from butchering innocents NOW. We keep thinking the same tired ineffective tactics will work but they won't.

The terrorists laugh at our stupidity, just as the colonists must have laughed at the British who refused to engage in guerilla warfare or shoot officers. General Sherman realized that war was about breaking your opponants will as much as anything else.

It's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror. Horror has a face...And you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies. I remember when I was with Special Forces...Seems a thousand centuries ago...We went into a camp to innoculate the children. We left the camp after we had innoculated the children for Polio, and this old man came running after us and he was crying. He couldn't see. We went back there and they had come and hacked off every innoculated arm. There they were in a pile...A pile of little arms. And I remember...I...I...I cried... I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out. I didn't know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget. And then I realized...like I was shot...Like I was shot with a diamond...a diamond bullet right through my forehead...And I thought: My God...the genius of that. The genius. The will to do that. Perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure. And then I realized they were stronger than we.

You wouldn't be responsibe, you would be a victim of his crimes and punishment. Wouldn't that spur you to take action to stop your cousin?

This should be the law of the land. Their punishment should be swift and sure.

At some point, it has to occur to Sharon and company that the palis, messed up as they are, are simply being used, and that the attentions of the Israeli military needs to be turned towards the fools pulling the strings and bankrolling all the BS.

But don't you think that this "intifada" is useful also to the hardliners in the Likud?

My 7 handicap husband agrees with this lawyer. In fact, for weeks he's been saying, "kill the families, kill em quick. Give them fair warning it's going to happen, then follow through".

When I heard that one of the latest homicide bombers called his Mother right before he exploded himself, and she wished him "good luck on his mission", I joined the chorus.

I've thought for a long time that those cretins celebrating their kid's homicide bombing should be liquidated. Yasser's $25,000 blood money would not do them much good then, and it would tend to deter other would-be families of homicide bombers.

I do not consider the families of bombers as "innocents." In fact, the entire Palesinian culture is guilty. From the day they are born, Palistinians are raised by their families to murder. They are encouraged by their government, religion, community, friends and families to kill jews. They have a gun in their hand before they are potty-trained and they are taught the ways and means to kill jews. Here in America, we call it "conspiring to commit murder" and "aiding and abetting" a criminal act. Innocent people die due to these criminal acts. Let the punishment fit the crime. 12 posted on 6/9/02 8:55 AM Pacific by LindaSOG

At least I know where you are coming from, you are no better than the Albanian tribes. But one tip for you,if you want to obliterate your enemy in one day, track him for a year. Before you obliterate every Palestinian man, woman, and child,I believe that you should at least be able to spell,p-a-l-e-s-t-i-n-i-a-n.

Actually, you HAVE thought about it for a long time.As you already seem to know, the Philistines migrated from Crete to Gaza in around 1500B.C. Crete is also considered to be where European civilization started.

Here's a way to strike at the families of terrorists without killing innocents. Announce that for every Israeli killed, Israel will take three (or five or ten, pick a number) children. These will be kids under the age of six. They will be adopted out to religious Christians and Jews to be raised in those faiths. Then you sterilize every relative of the killer out to second cousins. (Maybe it would be psychologically more effective to just sterilize the male relatives ....) The killer's bloodline would thus live on only in a different religion, and the jihadists would be sentencing their own youngest relatives to become (1) infidels and (2) targets of the next jihadist.
