I need help from Freepers on finding a charity (Pledge of Allegiance)

I need help from you guys in finding a charity. I'm selling Pledge of Allegiance "UNDER GOD" T-shirts, and they're going like wildfire.

I want to give part of the money received to a charity that is relevant to this issue.

Right now, all I can think of is the Salvation Army and various church groups. If the Freeper community can think of a better idea, please let me know. This will be a substantial sum of money, based on early sales.

Salvation Army is a great choice. The successes that they have had in meeting the needs of "needy" people is wonderful.

Where the Red Cross sends a bill for everything that they distribute during a disaster, the Salvation Army has never sent a bill to anyone.

They have homes for battered women, ranches for recovering alcoholic men, a Center for Youth in south sentral LA that can accomodate 7000 kids a day, 70% return rate when looking for runaway kids...etc

They are the best!

Just like the Boy Scouts, the Salvation Army is under attack by homosexual activists. I would choose both of them, and tell them why.

We have always supported the Boy Scouts. But I had never given any money to the Salvation Army until last Christmas. When I read about the homosexuals targeting them, I put a substantial donation in an envelope, with a note explaining that I had never given before, but I admired their courage in sticking to their principles and would continue to give as long as they stood firm. Then I dropped the envelope in one of their kettles.

Might I suggest the Family Research Council (found at http://www.frc.org)? The actually take these battles into court and file amicus briefs and friends of the court briefs on most everything that affects Christians, families and children. - they are also non-denominational.

All great ideas. I'll check out the new suggestions and post who we'll give the money to. Maybe we'll pool the money and make multiple donations.

I'm still open to others good recipients, if anyone hasn't posted yet, but these are great suggestions.
