IS THIS REALLY A NEWSSTORY (AP has a slow newsday???) Bush to Be Sedated for Colonoscopy

This is such a major story that FoxNews.com ran it as a "Breaking News Alert". Think that's bad? Their headline if you clicked on the story is headlined:

"Doctors To Get Rare Look Inside The President".

I'm not making this up (I only wish I were...).

a little Valium in the IV and I never knew what happened.

Wow! I wonder if Bill Bennett knows about that?

Yes. We understand that the President, in fact, often sleeps on a regular basis. (SHOCK!)

Sometimes...even once per night!!! (SHOCK!)

Straight line responses:

*the only story breaking there was the wind.

*I hope that doctor knows his $hit.

*I heard of the media blowing smoke, but this stinks.

*Scope? Is that the mouthwash or the procedure?

Oh,and one other thing. Did you know that Algore invented the colonoscopy?

No, not really, but considering what he's full of, no real surprise there...

I heard somewhere that an unnamed Democrat House member offered to take the exam for him...

He must have wanted to talk to the doctor face to face.

So you can move when the doctor tells you to in order to facilitate guiding the colonoscope around the colon.

Well, you could tell the patient to lie on his stomach, sedate him, and then do what you have to do. Personally, I'd rather start on my stomach and be knocked out rather than be awake while I'm having my @$$ reamed... ;)

Actually, after 8 years of being "scoped" by the Clinton-era democrats, I can honestly say that I would have preferred being asleep for those 8 painful years also.

Don't worry, the Speaker of the House comes before the Majority Leader. I don't believe a Senator is in the line of sucession at all, since they were representatives of the State. I could be wrong, but I believe it's the Speake, then it goes into the Cabinet.

"Before taking the test, Bush will be given a solution to drink to cleanse his system."

This is actually the worst part of the procedure. For 24 hours before, you can only eat and drink clear foods. Then about 6 hours before, you drink 4 oz. of a saline solution for hyper-cleansing. then 2 hours before, you drink another 4 oz. to clear out any specks that may be left.

I got woozy before the procedure from the friggin' saline solution. I watched the show on the monitor during the procedure, just got sleepy though. Not bad at all, as far as procedures go, kinda interesting in fact. Wanna see my pictures? ;^) (just joking).

ORDER OF U.S. PRESIDENTIAL SUCCESSION:

The Vice President Richard Cheney

Speaker of the House John Dennis Hastert

President pro tempore of the Senate Robert Byrd

"Today, my dear friends and colleagues, I rise not as President pro tempore of the Senate, the House of Lords, this grand and great cloud of hoary witnesses to glory uncommon, but as your President, your great white father, Commander in chief, yea, the Big Man.

And I am reminded of my humble but honest beginnings in the coal mines of West Virginia, or "Byrdland" as one of my marvelous and wise constituents has called it...

And that brings to mind my little dog Sweet Potato, and my little cat "Pork and Beans" and the sight of a small, hungry child doing his chores in his humble Pappy's cabin that sat upon the smoking ruin of a mine long rendered unfit by the men in the tall, black hats...

President Byrd. It might have a funny side to it.

I hope the White House makes our VP very comfortable and relaxed. Some one should serve Mr. Cheney some breakfast in bed and make sure he's not jogging at the time he assumes command. I don't want Tom Daschle running this country!

Daschle is not in the line of succesion unless its after all the cabinet members are dead or incapacitated. First VP, then Speaker of the House, then Senator Byrd (President Pro Tem of the Senate) then Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and on and one in the order the cabinet positions was created.

Senate Pres Pro Tempore is Robert Byrd...!!!P> What the heck is the Senate thinking???? Thanks to the Senate Democrats, we have a person next in line who wouldn't pass a standard physical exam for driving a car!

Prior to Byrd, it was Strom Thurman. The President Pro Tempore of the Senate is the Senator of the Majority party with the greatest tenure. At least with Byrd, you would have someone that was more conscious than President Bush during the colonoscopy.

The other thought was that it must really be lousy to not be able to even get a colonoscopy without some major media outfit violating medical confidentiality.

The media didnt violate his medical confidentiality. Bush announced the fact that he was having the test to the Press in front of live cameras. He did so for two or three reasons. 1) He was going to give the power of the Presidency to Cheeny. You dont want a crisis to come up during the procedure and have people questioning whether or not to accept orders from Cheeny. 2) If he didnt announce it and it came to light the press would throw a fit over what was he hiding, just like they did when Cheeny went to the hospital for a test. 3) He may have thought a little embarrasment on his part was okay to help convince more Americans to take advantage of the procedure to ward of cancer.

They said they were going to use Diprivan(faster recovery time) than Versed, which, as you know, has an amnesic effect.

Is that covered in the Republican prescription drug plan?

It's not a prescription drug or self-administered.

Personally, I'd rather start on my stomach and be knocked out rather than be awake while I'm having my @$$ reamed... ;)

You lie on your left side, the side of the descending colon. Since Versed is a hypnotic, you're aware of what's going on, but you forget the pain as soon as it's experienced, you also just don't care at all that someone is snaking a colonoscope all the way around your colon, though I still did remain both interested in the procedure and curious about what I could see.

How nice of them to not only announce it but also to tell when it was going to happen. Reminds me of the George Brett hemoroids World Series.
