STATEMENT FROM MR. RICCI THAT WAS READ BY LARRY KING ON HIS SHOW FRIDAY NIGHT.
"First, I want to say I have no knowledge of Elizabeth Smart's abduction, disappearance or whereabouts. I want to say to the Smart family from my family, Angela, my stepson and myself, that we pray for her safe return. I too lost a nine-year-old son in an accident in 1985 and I know what Ed and Lois are going through. I've cooperated fully with the FBI, the police and AP&P. I have taken polygraph tests, have been through 26 hours of questioning, given blood, DNA, surrendered my vehicle. The police and FBI have searched my hope and shed and have even dug up my garden and they found nothing. I think the reason I'm involved is because of my past. I would not nor could not hurt a child in any way. The night of Elizabeth's disappearance, I was home with my wife, Angela. I awoke around six to 6:30 a.m. to hear on the news that Elizabeth Smart, Ed's daughter, had been kidnapped. I was in shock."
ALSO FROM THE LARRY KING SHOW...
KING: CNN is reporting that investigators are checking whether the Riccis are legally wed. I know you represent both of them. If, per chance, they are not, does that mean she doesn't have the spousal recusal from testifying?
SMITH: Well, that's the first that I've heard of that, but that may be an issue if they are not legally wed. They advised me that they were legally wed on Valentine's Day.

that lawyer does not inspire confidence...
now this is the second interview I have watched of him where he would not answer questions because "its under investigation" or some such baloney....
now I ask you, why would he the defense attorney of two people being investigated, why would he be gagged?...HIs clients are not charged yet...is it because of the grand jury testimony?

I distinctly remember Angela saying on FOX, that she and Richard woke up together at 6:00, and as they were having their morning coffee, they watched the news...sometime between 6:00 and 7:00. I wondered the same thing when she stated that. Was it already on the news that early?

so if angela was telling the truth that ricci was at least there when she went to bed and then there when she awoke....that window of opportunity was indeed small...
considering that it would take him one hour to travel to the smarts and back, do whatever and where ever he took her,,then he had to work very fast...
otoh,,,if he merely went in to the smart's and took lizzie...handed her off then and there....well, then it seems a little more doable

If I recall, someone said that it was on the radios and TV very early on. So it is possible that he heard it very early. We need some Utah people to verify this for us...
To: Pistacio
well we don't know what time the local news ran with the story.. and if it was a Rachel alert than it made the news early on.....
The sister told police that the soft-spoken man got into the house by forcing open a window and had a small black handgunn...
did you catch this....
so the original story was that MK said that the perp came in the window....how strange

The call to 911 was at 4:01am, and Ed Smart said it seemed to take forever for them to get there... I don't think the police or the chief has disclosed how long it took them to get there after the call came in. If it was me and waiting anymore than 5 minutes for the cops to show up would be too long of a wait if my kid was taken from my home at gunpoint.

That would be a newspaper link. What time would the 'local' Utah television news be on? I know that my local news doesn't come on that early. I believe the Rachel Alert didn't even get on the ground until after 9:00 am. Maybe Utah Girl would remember.
