Pray for Bush Day 660- & the US Senate

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank You for this day and for Your love and blessings which You shower upon us. I thank You for Your grace and mercy in our times of need and for putting up with our complaints and our why questions when You don't have to do any such thing. Lord, sometimes we creatures are so presumptive, yet You love us anyway. You created us as we are and are making us into something new each day we live. Through joy and triumph and pain and sorrow You are always with us and You always show us that You care. Thank You Lord, for caring for me and for caring for my country at such a time as this.

I lift up to You today President Bush and I ask that You would speak to him and through him throughout the rest of the evening and until we meet again. Tell him of Your will and create a burden within his heart to follow it. Reveal to him Your truth and give him the courage to proclaim it. Pour out upon him Your Spirit, that he may be bold for Your holy cause. And give to him Your wisdom and peace and protection, that he may praise You and that he may be what this nation needs him to be.

I pray for the Senate majority, Lord, headed up by Tom Daschle. On this forum, Lord, things are so clear so many times. The Republicans are "good" and the Democrats are "bad", and there is seldom any gray area except for those we call "RINOS". Yet, even though many count the majority as "enemies", and have good reason to be upset with them- we do not have good reason not to pray for them, because our Lord Himself commanded we do so. Father, it would be my desire to see Your Spirit poured out upon the democrat majority in the senate. Though they stand for things which we oppose, they are no more evil than we ourselves have been in times past and they too need Your grace and transformation, just as we do. So, Lord, I pray for Spiritual awakening and revival in the Senate majority. Lord, change all attitudes that do not reflect Your truth. Change all actions so that they are a testimony of Your power and majesty. And, astound the world that even the United States Senate is not too far from Your healing hand.

Go with us the rest of this day, Lord, and bless us that we may praise Your holy name. Thank You for answering our prayers and for hearing our cries. And, forgive us Lord, for not always following You. We are so foolish when we follow our own ways. Will we ever learn? For it is in the precious and holy name of Christ Jesus the Lord and Savior of the world, my God in whom I trust, that I pray these things- Amen.

Mighty God, Everlasting Father,

We seek You with open hearts today, Lord, and pray that Your holy presence would be felt in our lives. You are the vine; we are the branches. Without You, we are as rudderless ships, twisting and turning in the stormy sea. Please be our vision and our guide, that we may always move toward You. We ask that You would fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that the joy of our salvation may be restored.

Father, President Bush needs Your wisdom and courage to set the national agenda based upon Your truths and the wisdom You are providing him. Help him to use the power afforded by his office to lead this nation in a positive, freedom-loving direction. Let him not be bullied by those who seek to push through agendas that have very little to do with the ideals and desires of American citizens, and much to do with a move toward socialism. Save us from the hands of those who use deceit and treachery to accomplish their political goals. Save us from the hands of those who seek to add power to the federal government. Save us from further infringements upon our basic rights and freedoms. Father, please give President Bush a clear vision of how to accomplish what You want him to accomplish.

We pray for our senators and ask that You would give wisdom to the American people as they go to the polls this fall to vote for Congress men and women. Help us to choose those candidates who seek to be obedient to You and to honor You. Please provide new Senate leadership for us, Father, so that we may move toward ending partial-birth abortion and all abortion in this nation. Convict the hearts of the Senate Judiciary Committee to move on the President’s nominations for judicial posts.

Thank You, Father, for the blessings of knowing that You are in control. We would never want anyone but You to be in charge of all things concerning us, our families, our President, and our nation. May Your hand move in America, Lord, and may all Your people praise You for Your mighty works and Your faithful answers to our prayers. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Thank you for the countless blessings that you give so generously. What a marvelous God we serve. Father I pray for our President today and ask that you would guide him, give to him wisdom and understanding. Teach him Your ways and lead him on the path of righteousness. Lord I also pray for our Senate for those who do not know you I pray that you would soften their heart and open their eyes, may they come to you rejoicing. For those who do know you I pray for discernment for them. May they zealously seek Your will and obey you no matter what the cost may be. I pray this in Jesus name, Amen.
