BTW I agree that he should not attend.

In light of things, not attending is the most thorough expose on the current 'black leadership' there ever could be...

Sometimes there are bad relations between whites and blacks, yeah thats true, but wouldn't you know it... its not always whitey's fault there now is it...

I wonder how many people remember the letters coming from the Reverend Peterson during the attempted Gore/ Democrat/ Communist coup of 2000. I can't find them, perhaps somebody could help.

Very inspiring at that dark time, especially when it looked like Al Gore was going to precipitate a war. This guy was ready to go. Who needs Sharpton, Bond, Farrakhan, and the rest of the hustlers? I wouldn't show up at their shindig either.

The President should meet with people of this caliber more often. Let them get their message out. Can't ignore a guy having lunch with the President. Give them a platform.

Bad strategy for W

Why? If I remember correctly - 2001 they did not want him and if he came were planning an embarrassing display of hate directed toward him. Why would a President ever put himself in a position to be treated in such a way?

Bush deals with other blacks - those involved in the ministry, and in other worthwhile areas. He does not consort with Arafat, terrorists or racist blacks that are running protection services.

I don't think Bush should go to this convention until they do apologize for the 2000 elections. Heck, I don't even want to go to the convention and I've been a member. I'm also not renewing my membership at least until they drop the Confederate Flag nonsense.

Sometimes it all comes down to timing and perceptions; an illusion of inclusion. A picture of Bush addressing the NAACP Convention would have been much more preferable than the photos we are seeing of him fishing in a boat off a huge multi-milloin dollar estate of the wealthy while super rich greedy CEOs are stealing our money and taking the Fifth before Congress.
Those super rich greedy CEOs are associated, rightly or wrongly, with the Republican Party and Bush is again defending himself from an old scandal that looks a lot like these new scandals. He was handed a politically useful diversion and he turned it down.

Well, he hasn't attended any of my PTA meetings even once since becoming President. Looks like I better call a reporter or two! So what if he looks at a teacher each night in the family quarters!

Given the comments from Bond and Jackson, it was the right thing to do. No need to dignify those who smear him with lies with his presence. In anything, he ought to tell the IRS to look into Jackson.

Now, check out these latest very interesting comments. If Bush gave an address right after Mfume made his comments, countless Democrat activists would have fainted on the spot.

I am sure by now everyone is bored with the rants of those who attack him at every turn. he is going on with the business of the American people...oh wait...that's what the last administration used to say...all of them, remember? Getting back to the people's business wasn't it? Yawnnnn. Go President Bush. You are doing fine being honest which is one quality the dems are having a hard time with.

Baloney. The NAACP is a worthless organization that needs to be shunned or denigrated, no matter the costs.

Bush addressing the NAACP convention would be the equivalent of Gore addressing the NRA convention.

Bush addressing the NAACP convention would be the equivalent of Gore addressing the NRA convention...

Bush, like Reagan, is not afraid to take on the enemy up close and personal and on their own turf. You don't run and hide and hope it goes away (which is one of the characteristics of the Conservative Death Wish).
Bush addressing the NAACP Convention and Gore addressing the NRA are political tactics that can be spun in one's favor if handled correctly.

In anything, he ought to tell the IRS to look into Jackson.

And Operation PUSH, And the PUSH/Rainbow Coalition, And the dealings between Jackson and corporations across the nation (the 'blood money' that firms have been forced to pay in the form of kickbacks, preferential treatment and contracts to Jackson and his friends, relatives and cronies).

The Clintons got away with using the IRS as a weapon - Quid Pro Quo in this case?

Whether Bush addresses the NAACP or not is irrelevant. They will continue to slander him (the Byrd ad. Bush should concentrate on the War on Terror and the Economy.

Perhaps the reason the folks at the NAACP convention are hyperventilating, is some movement in polls indicating increased support for Bush in the Black community (speculation). Remember, most of the "Civil Rights" leaders depend on continued racial hatred for their position.

It would have to be quiet.

And the Dems are nervous about Harvey Pitt... Could the SEC have been looking into those stock dealings, perhaps?

Why on earth would the President of the United States take time from the important business of running the country and fighting a war to appear before a partisan wing of the DNC ? Perhaps Meessers Mfume, Bond, Shelton, Jackson, et al have forgotten the NAACP's disgraceful, unethical treatment of President Bush during the 2000 campaign. President Bush spoke at their 2000 convention and how did they show their appreciation ? They could not even manage to be civil to him they booed him, they continued running those horrible, hatefilled James Byrd ads and they screeched disenfranchised Florida voters after the election. Last year he declined an invitation to appear in person at their covention in New Orleans but sent a video taped message. Again, he was roundly criticized by this same group of malcontents. The NAACP and their handmaidens in the press may have conveniently forgotten that shameful behavior but it appears the President hasn't. Good for you Mr President.
