"The American Family Voices group was created with labor union money in 2000 to bash Bush and help then-Vice President Al Gore in the presidential election. It is a non-profit issue advocacy organization that under section 501c(4) of the tax code does not have to say where it gets its cash."
"Former Clinton adviser James Carville, now a co-host on CNN, is a close adviser to the left-leaning group and has helped it raise and spend money on various projects."
Am I wrong or isn't there a law concerning non-profits and their financing of political campaigns?

Another Carville classic. Brit Hume reported this tonight on Special Report and showed a clip of the ad.
Lots of references to Enron, etc.

Does CNN actually think these hate-mongers and liars are going to "increase" viewership?
How Stagnant are they going to become?

I'm not sure if CNN reported this or not. If they did it certainly wouldn't be in a negative light.
Brit reported it on Fox News and was very critical.

It was reported on both CNN and MSNBC. Over and over again today. They only questioned asked was "will this hurt Bush?" They don't care if it's true or not - they just want to take the President down. Klayman, carville, begala, the clintons and the media are all working together.
To: terilyn
The Make'n Sense network MSNBC ran it in it's entirety and had comments about it by the news moderator/reporter. They menitoned it was by the AFV group which was left leaning or something to that effect.......

I resent gotcha politics with the Bush administration," Schumer said.I guess he sees another Democratic PR disaster in the making as a result of this boneheaded smear of Bush, and is distancing himself.

That's what I figured. Schumer may be a clymer but he's a very clever one. He's figured out what Gore, Carville, McAwful, Daschole, Leahy, Gephardt, Clinton, etc., etc., have not had the brains or the will to figure out.

The BIG question is: What will Carville say about it on CNN's Crossfire?
We'll see how partisan and biased CNN is after Carville talks this up like a DNC flunky.

Am I wrong or isn't there a law concerning non-profits and their financing of political campaigns? As I understand it, 501c(4)s are only prohibited from running these sorts of ads within a certain time period before an election. Sixty days or something, I forget.

It will be interesting to see if it's even brought up. No...wait...that would mean I'd actually have to watch. Guess I'll have to wonder!

Thanks for that. I was under the assumption that there were tougher restrictions. There were a lot of questions around here at one time re Jesse Jackson and his obvious work for the DNC and whether it was legal considering his non-profit status.

Wonder if they bought ad time on CNN's Crossfire?
What a brilliant, and ethical move, too, to have Carville be on the payroll on CNN and also be able to consult and produce political ads to air on....CNN!! Not a drop of conflict of interest here, no siree Bob! And not a drop of hypocrisy, too...
Walter Issacson should fire Carville today.
To: terilyn
Sure are a lot of people attacking Bush right now. I'm not surprised about the Dem ad, but some of the other sources have my eyebrows raised.

Not a drop of conflict of interest here... Nope.
CBS suspends Nancy Sniederman for a week for making an aspirin commercial, but Carville can demagogue DNC positions all day long and still be a moderator on CNN's premier politics show.

Ad time on CNN's Crossfire...
LOL! Wouldn't that be rich! They did say that the ads, (for now), were only running in NY & DC.
Carville won't get fired, he obviously shares the same political motivation as Isaacson. What other possible explanation could there be for their stubborn insistance to spew their liberal crap while at the same time watching their ratings go down the proverbial toilet?
What amazes me is that both MSNBC & CNN are trying to catch Fox in the ratings game. So what do they do...put on more liberals and continue to take viewers away from each other. Meanwhile...Fox keeps growing.
Gotta love it.

Last night, for the 60 seconds that I was able to tolerate Crossfire-Begala said that George Bush had been involved in "criminal activities" and that he was not in any position to question the ethics of Wall Street. Hope the RNC is prepared to run some ads exposing the lies and deceits and authors of these ads- BTW, they are very amateurish and not at all well done. The equivalent of a cheap porn flick made with a home video camera.
