... she probably won't have the range to make a major college program. She likely didn't even have the range for a major high school program - Serra Catholic is not exactly a high school football power in PA.

All I can say about women/girls in football is this Last year's experience in youth football (full contact tackle) there was one girl who started with my son's sixth grade team. The mother was at every practice and accused EACH and EVERY young man who tackled her or was in a pileup with her of sexual assault, my son included, PERSONALLY. Clearly trying to intimidate the boys. LOL The coaches put her in her place in short order. Needless to say, we never saw or heard from the mother or daughter again
Just to put things into perspective, these were 11-12 year olds. My son was weighed 125 pounds and the biggest two boys were at the 170 pound range. Clearly questionable whether young ladies belong on the football field, much less combat.

If she can do the job let her do it. If she gets crushed by a 280 lb linebacker so be it, that's football. I'm a guy and you wouldn't catch me out there facing that.

The NFL limits the roster to 53. In NCAA Division 1, there aren't any roster limitations. Some of the really big schools have over 100 players suit up for every game. She could theoretically make the team and be the 5th kicker on the depth chart. Those days are long gone. Most college football programs limit the size of their squads -- particularly their traveling team. Scolarships were limited long ago, then came Title IX. I'll see if I can find the reg...

A situation developed at the same school, PSU, several years ago where 2 guys went out for the womens' softball team. They tried to keep them off but, since there was no mens softball team, they had to take them. So the argument seems to hinge on whether there is an equivalent program for both sexes. After the men made their point, they dropped out (if memory serves).

You don't think there isn't at least ONE Big 10 player that would love an opportunity to "show those girls a lesson"?True. But as an IU grad, I know even worse is in store. Paterno will run some trick plays and she'll score three touchdowns -- against us, of course.

It is a 'Burgh thing! Gee, wonder if she's a sPitt plant. Watched her kick during her 15 min. of fame on tv...a short kick for D1. Is this going to get us to the MNC? IF she would make the team, imagine the reaction of us fans when she misses a kick or two. Oh, lordy!

Geez, I was under the impression that the majority of Big XII football teams had girls on their roster playing the game, which explained why the Big XII is such a weak conference.

Actually women have started their own football league
