I wanted to be head football coach. I know very little about coaching, but how much worse can I be? Plus, I'll work for half the exorbitant salary. NL, Rutgers has structural recruiting problems
The old coach is gone. The new coach can recruit:
Schiano: Rutgers still 'work in progress':
Another reason for hope is Schiano's second strong recruiting class, which is being hailed as the best in Rutgers' history and among the top 30 classes in the country.
Ill bet youll be a bandwagon Rutgers Football fan in a few years, but theyll be no more season tickets available for you. Nah-nah.

Try having Rutgers season tickets year after year, and youll see why Im bitter. Wow! I didn't think there were any other Scarlet Knights fans anywhere! My kids just laugh at me when I'm following the games. Of course, whoever decided we were ready to play in the Big East was smoking some serious crack.
I agree, it is not easy rooting for the WORST team in major college football.

That's good! They need more Cowgirls at Penn State.

Why can't men play field hockey, then?
To: Willie Green
Really Willie, it's a little silly to see a Buchanan booster laugh at a perennial loser.
0.4% is not statistically different from 0-11, when you do a little rounding. And Rutgers numbers have gone up since that debacle.

And what happens if they happen to play the University of Miami Hurricanes? She might get molested on the field, or who knows, one of them might take a dump in her helmet or something..

Your kids are lucky!
My kids cry - because I take them to the games with me.

What about men on the ladies' field hockey team, when there is no men's equivalent?
To: dead
Rutgers has a problem: Nobody in New Jersey wants to go to Rutgers if they can help it and no world-class athlete wants to go to Rutgers either. It's a small city, northeastern climate and you actually run the risk of being academically ineligible because Rutgers doesn't carry many "jock majors".
To: Blackdakota
?Why would they want to? A person should want to play with the top notch competition to better themselves and at any college with both a guys and girls team. Lets face it, a guys basketball team will whip a girls team every day of the week. ... If she feels she can compete then by all means let her do it. I have no problem with her competing if she can really do it (and doesn't mind getting pounded). But why shouldn't a man then who may NOT be the best basketball player, but better than the women on the women's team, be allowed to play there. Women insist on a women's team (which men cannot play on, even if qualified), whereas the men's team must accept a woman. And I would not be the least surprised if the rules of football are changed to suit the ladies. Just like the requirements for firefighting in New York City have been dumbed down to make sure that there are a few women on the force.

Who pissed on your party cake? My response had nothing to do with reporters in locker rooms. Get a grip.
I do believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to try out. I don't believe in forced integration, or team quotas, or lowering the standards for anyone, but there's no harm in trying. If one day, one of my daughters decides to advance the cause of feminism by trying out for the high school football team, I say let her. Then after she's had her ass kicked on the field, maybe she'll think a little harder about the roles of men and women.
For the same reason, I believe that women should be allowed to try out for firefighter positions, etc., BUT DON'T LOWER THE STANDARDS FROM WHAT MEN HAVE TO ACHIEVE. Then, when the majority of women fail in these roles designed for men, this country might finally start honestly dealing with the differences between our sexes.
This is America - everyone should be guaranteed the right to TRY to succeed. But under no circumstances do we have the right to DEMAND success - that comes from our own effort.
And for the record, I am all for allowing female reporters in male athlete locker rooms - as long as equal time is given for allowing male reporters into female athlete locker rooms.

FYI..the girl from Duke, Heather Mercer, played Yorktown HS in Westchester County. She kicked a few game winners, and had a huge local following..and now she's $2 million richer...so any coach that would take on a female FG kicker would be out of his mind...because she's a lawsuit waiting to happen.......and in Westchester, we have lots of guys playing on the girl's field hockey teams, even wearing the skirts....

You hit the nail on the head. I have no problem with women in football, military school, or even combat -- IF they qualify via the same standards the men have to follow. Sure, this means that only a minority of women will be big and strong enough to do it...but that's the way it goes. And no demanding special privileges after the fact -- suck it up or go home.
