HI!! Still here. Got back Stateside a little over a month ago. I used to not worry about this type of legislation much here in Chesterfield. However, with the recent influx of Northeastern liberals, our demographics may be shifting a bit. There used to be NO democrats standing outside my polling place (in Bon Air) but this November I was approached by 2 white Yuppie Cooterites. They were balanced by 2 black Republicans. (Do we live in a cool county or what?)

Hey, Ed, chill man..
no matter what you think of Stu, he is approachable.
Kind of figured he was a Dem. but it never really matter to me all that much.
He can only force so much down the School board that the NEA hasn't already done.
would I vote for Stu probably not.
The dog in this fight has been settled. The State has ruled and tied the hands of FCPS.(thank God)

If you & your husband care to venture down the road on Dec. 16th, stop in the Sheraton on Midlothian Turnpike for the Cantor Holiday Party

Gay-bashing is abominal, IMHO, but so are attempts to cram it down our throats that the Homosexual Agenda needs to be included in Public School curricula...MUD

The dog in this fight has been settled. The State has ruled and tied the hands of FCPS.(thank God)Stu is quoted in the follow-up article as saying he plans to figure out another way to accomplish the same goal and the fight's not over. Complacency is a mistake. The left never sleeps.

you know I wondered why when I mentioned to Stu, that I was at that meeting,
he kind of gave me a funny look, like which side I was on.
I guess next time I see him, I will have to state my case plainly,
No new categories are needed.
Thanks for straightening me out.

No problem. Here's the Gibson quote I referred to
Fairfax School Board Chairman Stuart C. Gibson said it was unlikely the board would follow the other localities' lead, but said discussion on the issue would continue. "I think there are ways that the School Board can provide for the general safety [the safety argument is the new refuge of scoundrels and cowards for all sorts of policy decisions nowadays] of its employees and students without changing state law," Gibson said. "We're not done with this."
Stuart Gibson is my school board member. I sure hope someone conservative and electable steps forward to run against him.

I'm as chilled as it gets .. took my younger kids out of FCPS and am home schooling. Others went to TJ where they actually got superb education .. wouldn't give you a plugged nickel for the whole rest of the school system.
HOWEVER, how do you think the NEA operates if not thru the likes of Stu Gibson .. Stalin called his ilk "useful idiots" ... so, go ahead and approach him all you want and I hope your kid(s) survive FCPS.

Open bar?? If we get too rowdy, we can take it down to the Fox and Hound. Now I'm assuming that when you said you'd just returned stateside that you were over in the Fields of Athenry. So you're quota of rowdiness must surely now be all used up for 2002. ;^)
Besides, you'll like hearing about my idea to spread the good word of Conservatism and expand the G.O.P. membership.

Well they are almost through, 10th and 12th grade.
The way we have survived is to work with them all the way through school.
Reston is very liberal and tuff to get around them but
a good Catholic upbrining, and parental invovlement has made a big difference.
2 and 1/2 years to go with FCPS. and we are done.(Thank GOD)

Is anyone able to access the Fairfax Journal site for this entire letter?
Send School Board a message What is going on with our Fairfax County School Board? Ever since Stuart Gibson became chairman, the board has become more partisan, more willing to censor its critics, conducts important business in secret, and strays ever farther from its primary responsibility of teaching our children.
Mr. Gibson, a Justice Department employee, is currently under investigation for improperly releasing citizen tax returns to the media. The alleged release violated IRS guidelines, and seems to have been politically motivated. Excerpt from the Fairfax Journal

Rita Thompson and Mychele Brickner are rock-solid, pro-child School Board members at-large who deserve a hearty vote of thanks from the Fairfax County electorate.
