Terrorist?

Was it stated thus on his ID card or what?

What would you call someone who breaks into your house in the middle of the night and attacks you with knives? Militant? Activist? Maybe it was the "Pampered Chef" representative.

I would have grabbed my Sig Sauer .45 and put rounds into him until he was no longer a threat. Two Winchester silvertip hollowpoints and six Glaser .45 automatic rounds would have stopped him.

Will you be my friend?

Sure :-)

Most American women would have had to consult Oprah and Dr Phil before taking action to understand their feelings. Then go take their Prozac and then, if the terrorist was still there, try to understand him first.

Now I'd think that you'd know some good Texas gals who could manage a little better than that. They used to be in the majority there, and I suspect their numbers are still statistically large.

But if all else fail, we're getting a fine influx of immigrants of women quite skilled in their career fields and also quite capable of taking care of themselves and their family in such drastic circumstances. They're helping America become again what it once was.

In his heart, and his eyes. If you are most fortunate, you may not see such a thing in your lifetime.

And of course, it was so stated in his obituary.

Cute.

I'm just wondering why we don't call all intruders Terrorists all the time. It would appear that our War on Crime has really been a War on Terror the whole time.

Are we afraid we'll kill the buzz of suspense inherent in the War on a Noun Series by just declaring a War on Evil?

Words have meanings. This sort of thing happens every day. Usually it comes under the heading of domestic violence.

I guess I also have a hard time understanding how they know the "terrorist" went room to room looking for the children first and -- further -- what the "terrorist" intended to accomplish in the way of geo-political or strategic agenda by attempting to massacre the one particular family.

Maybe in your neighborhood.

Some idle speculation...

Perhaps the bed covers in the other bedrooms were pulled off or perhaps had been cut up with a knife.

As for goals...

One of the distinguishing characteristics of terrorism is attacking the members of the target group at random trying to instill the fear that nothing will protect the individual members group and that the attacks will not stop until the terrorists get what they want.

Don't forget Sarah, Jael, Tamara, and Deborah, etc., etc.. We have more heroines than little green apples. Read the OT and you will find that women were called upon by G-d as many or more times than men were. ..and usually when it involved more complexities.

You know, that's really not relevant. Your comment was, "Aren't we all," and we are not. I've never saved my husband from a knifer, and until I've done something so great, I cannot be classified with that kind of heroine, and neither can you, unless you've done something remarkable. Being a woman does not mean being noble.

And, Persuasion, the story you wrote about is pretty rare where I hail from and in my tradition. For me to do such a thing would be tantamount to murder if there was any chance at all that I could save a life other than my own, I would rather die trying. You cannot ask the dead for forgiveness.

Certainly it's not the most common thing in the world, but neither is the heroism of the lady who saved her husband. I do agree with you on your last words, however. I would also rather die trying. But I've not done so yet.

Have you had a child? Have you taken care of a sick relative? Have you stood up for your rights when necessary? Would you defend yourself or your loved ones anytime, everytime, all the time? If your answer to any of the above questions is yes, then you are more of a heroine than you know. And I wouldn't call all women noble either because I have known and seen some real nasty woman critters in my day, but my heritage bespeaks highly of females past and present in our midst and that we can name them as heroines allows us to believe in ourselves in ways I can't explain or express. Have you ever seen the movie, "Sophie's Choice?"
We have learned to be heroes whether we wanted to or not.

How wonderful for this mother of 8 to care so much for her children and her husband.

To put herself in danger, to wrestle with this TERRORIST. I envy her and hope I would have that much strength and courage should I ever be faced with the same type of situation.

Thankyou for pinging me. This was truly a story worth reading!!

Yourwelcome [sic].

Wait . . . I thought women were always the victim of such an attack? How is it that great and good women are actually aggressive? Moreover, I find it disturbing that you envy someone that stabbed another person to death. Makes me wonder about your violent tendencies.

Get off your pitty pot and go re-read my other posts.

I have said I dont approve of violence *unless it is to protect yourself or your children.

Also, this is not a domestic violence case, it is the case of a woman protecting her family.

I feel this woman showed great courage. And yes, I do envy her. I do not have violent tendencies, but I do believe if my children were to be faced with this kind of danger, I could find the strength to protect them.

I can see your point, and that is, perhaps true, though I'm not entirely sure doing those things reaches the same level of heroism this lady showed.

And I wouldn't call all women noble either because I have known and seen some real nasty woman critters in my day.

*grin* I think we're on the same page now.

Have you ever seen the movie, "Sophie's Choice?"

I've not seen it - what's the plot?
