WASHINGTON - What was supposed to be a sporting, four-city competition for the 2004 Democratic National Convention has been transformed into a power struggle between two of the country's leading political families: the Kennedys and the Clintons.

Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts is spearheading Boston's drive to host the party gathering, telling each of the Democrats' potential presidential candidates that, as he passes age 70, he wants to finally bring the convention to his home state.

What about the Bush family?

I hope not ---it should not be a Republican trait to need an oligarchy. That idea fits better with the way democrats think.

Why don't they compromise and hold it in Hanoi!

MSNBC interviewed a guy last week who places bets on unusual situtations. At the end of the interview they asked him what his biggest win was. He replied that it was JFK Jr. crashing his plane.

When the guy heard that JFK Jr bought the plane his research showed that JFK Jr was too inexperienced for that sophisticated a plane. If memory serves, he bet $50, at 125:1 that John would crash and ide within 1 year. He, of course, collected.

I had been hoping for San Francisco. Neither Boston or New York is remotely likely to have a 9.0 ricter scale earth quake, whereas there is some probability of that event during a Rat convention in San Francisco.

I believe there is only one family around today with 2 presidents in their ranks. Is there any doubt who is really the most influential family in American politics?

New York's fund-raising drive will be overseen by Robert E. Rubin

This guy ain 't out of the woods on the market collapse and the stories like Enron and World Com. He could be a step away from the cuffs' and cameras folks. He's the one guy that was directly involved with the Clintun government, Goldman Sacks, Enron, and Citibank. Watch the Citibank stock next week.

Maybe these two groups of criminal motherf**kers can solve this with pistols at ten paces.

Better make it two paces. I don't want any of them to miss.

Of course when the last time the GOP didn't let the Toons walk all over them?

I remember that moment very well. It was about 5 minutes before they were told that The HildaBeast had the FBI files on all of them.

Hopefully in a duel to the death they would select hand grenades as the weapon of choice.

I think if a family is talented, righteous and wants to serve their country, that is a beautiful thing. (See the Adams family.)

But you're right. The dem families tend to think of it as their birthright rather than an opportunity to serve the public good, and often have never worked a day in their lives.

It's not just presidents that make a political family ---try presidents, senators, representatives, attorney generals. The Kennedys have everyone beat when it comes to thinking they own this country. I don't think either political party should encourage an aristocracy.
