[history]
MARGARET Carlson, the first female columnist in the history of Time magazine and a fixture on CNN's "Capitol Gang," is about to sever her ties to the magazine, Media Ink has learned.
Carlson, a well-connected Beltway insider, had been a regularly appearing weekly columnist until the Sept. 11 attacks, but she's been all but invisible in the magazine's lineup since then.

I always thought Margaret Carlson was a complete airhead. I actually found it painful to listen to her make an argument. (Contrast with Eleanor Clift, whom I just disagree with, but is quite sharp.)

Carlson had a unique ability to infuriate me on The Capital Gang. The toothy, grinning face of elite, inside-the-Beltway liberalism.
I'm sure our traditional Catholic FReepers will be outraged/amused to learn that in the loony left universe of Time Magazine, Carlson was considered the "resident Catholic."

David Boies, the antitrust lawyer who prosecuted the government's case against Microsoft, He is also the chump that wanted a judge to render a garden variety decision for algore in the florida presidental election recounts.

Remember what Carlson said during the recount. The only reason military people go down to Florida was so that they would not have to pay state taxes. As I recall, she had to do a mea culpa on that line real quick.
I disagree with the opinion of the Freeper who said that Eleanor Clift is sharp. She is another kool-aid drinker. My favorite story on Clift was during the Monica scandal, the sidekick from the Howard Stern show - Stuttering Bob I believe - asked her if she wished it was her and not Monica servicing the BillyBob.

yawn.... who cares....

TIME is a NON-factor.
To: visagoth
Friends said she was particularly stung when she was left out of a cover package that the magazine did earlier this year on the sex and pedophilia scandal that is rocking the American arm of the Roman Catholic Church. She had been seen by many as the "resident Catholic" who'd frequently weigh in with opinion pieces on crucial issues facing the church, said an insider. Margaret's solution: women priests.
No great loss here.

Ah, what could have been.

A lesbian I know... Just curious, what did you find important to your story to identify your friend as a lesbian?

Another Clintonista bites the dust?
I vividly remember her attacking Ken Starr for prosecuting Clinton for perjury. On the TV show, she was almost apoplectic, barely able to keep her teeth in her mouth, when she said, "There is not one person in this country (presumably she meant the USA) who is being prosecuted for perjury!"
That was proven very quickly to be another lie that she was helping to spread for the Clintonistas!
Maybe TIME had to make room for another leftist propagandist to write the fable of the Clintoon Plan to get Ben Ladin!
To: 7thson
Also, one of the IMUS regulars did a man on the street interview during the Clintoon "I give at the office, so I don't have to give at home" period and Eleanor Rodham Clift emerged from a taxi cab.
She was asked if she was wearing knee pads under her slacks. She merely laughted and walked away, but she didn't say NO!

There is nothing special about Margaret Carlson. There were no unique perspectives. It was just liberal pap. I know the liberal arguments and perspectives (as does everyone here) and I could have written her column in my sleep.
Now, what would be interesting is if TIME replaced her with someone interesting, especially a conservative. The odds against that, though, are astronomical.

It's just his way of impressing the rest of us...he is a math major, you know!
To: Dog Gone
I would love to see David Limbaugh get a regular column in one of the "major" publications. I know it will never happen, but it would sure be a treat for all those sheeple who read Time and think they are "up" on the news.

You know your career as a liberal 'pundit' is over when even Time Magazine won't print your column.

The only unfortunate piece about your story is that your friend's flight was not delayed.

The Clintonoids are dropping like FLIES! ALL Of these scandals invlve Clinton supporters and groupies. SCHADENFREUDE ROCKS!!!!
Eleanor Clift's punishment is that she has to live with herself.....and her dopey husband that is a girlie man lefty.
To: zhabotinsky
GOOD I am glad she is outta there at Time Magazine
If she done that to me I am female Football fan
I punch her lights out
To: ml/nj
I agree with you totally about Eleanor Clift. It's foolish to say she isn't intelligent just because we disagree with her about nearly everything. She is capable of making an articulate argument and much of her writing is quite good.
Carlson, however, is in the same category as Anna Quinlan, Ellen Goodman, etc. These liberal feminist women have ONE column that they re-cycle again and again...they haven't had a collective original thought in 20+ years. Their writing is vapid and boring. The difference, of course, is that Clift does 'news' and Carlson does more 'opinion' in the guise of news.
Al Hunt is destined to see this as a 'vast right wing TIME magazine conspiracy'.

Uh, what? You can't take what you wrote seriously. Being a lesbian proves no more of an ability to be a bully than being a man to a group of men.
In the home remodeling business
Uh, my friends wife is a waif of a woman, and does this work. Although, she could probably kick my a$$ :o)
I think your examples are relative to your own experience and really have nothing to do with the ability to tell a story. Your inclusion of her sexuality was just a label, used as easily as calling a man a man. And that is just what Homosexual activists have been working towards, normality. When their behaviour is no more 'normal' than a dog humping my leg.

I think your examples are relative to your own experience and really have nothing to do with the ability to tell a story I have to disagree with you. I would have a hard time picturing a "waif of a woman" even attempting to stare down a Margaret Carlson type. However, I knew exactly where the story was headed at the mention of a lesbian with a construction business.
Women, in general, will back down or ignore a threat from another woman. As zhabotinsky put it, "Because of her sexual preference she is comparatively immune to the previously described cultural taboos of those who don't share her sexual preference."
Yep, I can picture that.
